Without any baby experience, I stocked up on 3 different types of NB diapers. A fourth type was given to us by the hospital.

The Huggies Little Snugglers were the brand used by our hospital and we were given a package of 40 when we left the hospital.

I had stocked up on Pampers Swaddlers, Pampers Dry Max and Seventh Generation.

HUGGIES -- This was my favorite overall. This one has a good cutout for the umbilical cord. My husband & I also really like the stripe on the outside that changes color when the diaper is soiled. As first-time parents we really liked having this because even though we change our baby at every 3-hour feedings, we like to change him in between if he needs it. Since we don't really know what a soiled diaper should feel like, this little detail made it very easy for us. The only caveat is that this is the only brand that would leave little "crystal"-like substances in the diaper. At first I was alarmed thinking these were from the baby's urine but after a quick google, it seems some diapers can create these. Out of the 4 types we used, only the Huggies left this. The Huggies also held in the poops well. The size seems like it grows with the baby for the first month without any problems.

Seventh Generation Seventh Generation Chlorine Free Baby Diapers, Newborn (Up to 10 Lbs), 40 Count (Pack of 4)-- This was my 2nd favorite. Again, there are pros and cons. The pros, besides the fact they are chlorine-free, is they held in the watery poops well. But I don't like that it's difficult to tell when the diaper has been peed in. You can't feel wetness so you kind of have to look at the heaviness in the front.

We switched from Huggies to Pampers when our daughter was about 4 months old. For no specific reason, I chose Huggies initially when signing up for subscribe and save. When she got about ready to switch from size 1 to size 2, she started blowing out every single dirty diaper. What was interesting was that it blew out her legs, and happened with both sizes. She also started leaking urine overnight. After reading a lot, we discovered that for skinny legs, Pampers fit better (she is in the 10th percentile weight-wise and 75th length-wise). Since switching, we haven't had a single blowout or leak! We also noticed along the way that the Pampers are far more absorbent and hold the moisture away from her skin better. She routinely does 12 hour nights with no leaks, and no rashes.

I also strongly recommend the Amazon mom subscribe and save option, you get 20% off diapers and wipes, what a deal!

We have tried EVERYTHING! These are the best and are definitely worth the extra money. Our daughter got diaper rash with Luvs and Pampers but as soon as we switched to these, no more diaper rash! We have yet to have any leaks (3 months, going strong) and they seem to be much more plush than any other diaper brand. As a side note, the Huggies Snug and Dry are just as good, not as soft. When on sale, the premiums are actually cheaper than snug and dry. So keep your eyes open!

I hate these diapers now!! I have used huggies with all 4 babies and these now suck! They recently changed the shape of the diaper so that the sides are not cut out to go around the legs. BAD MOVE!! My daughter now has the worst blowouts with these. It doesn't go up the back it comes out the sides now because there is nothing to stop it! I loved the way they used to be a few months ago.

My son was 8.5 lbs and 21 inches at birth and these diapers does not fit properly. I strapped them as tight as possible but still urine leaks out. Sometimes it feels like as if he has nothing on. I have to change his clothes, crib sheet, swaddle wrap every time he pees. I often find all his back wet. I asked around thinking maybe I was not using them properly but everyone said pampers are better. It doesn't work for me.

My baby is just an ounce or two under eight pounds. I don't know if these newborn diapers are too big or what, because they leaked repeatedly. I've cleaned up messes repeatedly. I didn't have a problem with the huggies naturals and assumed that these would be similar but they weren't. I also had good luck with the pampers brand and the up and up brand. These are the only diapers that I've had a leak problem with so far. I may try again when my baby is closer to the ten pound mark and see if it is a size thing.

The leg opening of these is way to wide for my son. He peed through these so we had to give the rest away.

Forget Huggies and buy the Pampers. These are so bulky and clunky. As soon as they get wet they basically turn hard as a rock. Not at all fabric-like. Blech. Wish I'd never strayed.
