To begin I'd like to point out that my 70 lb lab's favorite activity is trying to find the weak spot with a toy, and then absolutely DESTROY it. He can do it in record time with just about any toy. It's pretty amazing.

The Octo-Knottie is not an excluded from this practice. (He's on his 3rd.) No, this is how it goes:

- I get the toy and immediately cut down the tuft of hair on top. Basically a buzz cut for the toy. THIS is its weak spot. If they'd just get rid of the stupid tuft of hair this toy would last forever, I swear. Anyway...
- My dog stares at me throughout all of this, EXTREMELY excited because "OMGOMGOMGILOVETHISTOYYYYY!!!!!"
- I give the toy to the pup.
- Within the first 5-10 minutes he splits it open and tries with all his might to eat as much stuffing and squeaker as possible before I notice. (I've gotten good at this now. He never gets any of either anymore, to his dismay.)
- I see that he has broken in, so I take all the stuffing out - including the big middle squeaker.
- He watches me disembowel his favorite toy, while alternating between huge sad eyes and impatient yawns.
- I give him back his toy, sans stuffing.
- Happiness! The squeakers in all the legs still work - so he feels like there's a part of it he can still destroy.
- The pup proceeds to work towards his goal of breaking every squeaker possible in his favorite toy.

Months later we can still get a random squeak out of one of the squeakers left in a leg. The rest are shot. The pup STILL loves this toy. He buries his head in the cavernous opening that was once filled with stuffing. Sometimes I'll stuff it full of his other smaller toys and he'll go rooting through it trying to get them all out. JOY.

See, that's the thing.

Watching my brother's dog who, unlike my dog, is apparently a "real dog" and destroys every toy you give him. As in, shreds one toy into a MILLION pieces and spits the stuffing out as he's doing it.

Basically, a mess.

Everywhere.

I spent quite a bit of money figuring out what toys are invincible, turns out I found three.

Huggables, (this one)
Invincibles
And kong wubba/tugga wubba and snugga wubba

I almost didn't get it because of the price ($20 at my local store) but I'm glad I did and I hope this helps someone else!

Also a good tug toy.

I love this toy!! I've had Octo-Knotties (we named him Oliver) for about 7 months now. I originally bought it for my 10 year old lab who likes to tear stuffed toys apart, especially to remove the squeeker (Octo-Knotties has 9 of them). Since the buy, we got a 7 week old lab pup (who is now 5 months old). The toy is a little large but it's so cute watching the dogs play tug-o-war with it or running around with it in their mouth. My dogs are my babies and they had 10-12 stuffed toys at one point (since the pup arrived). The only toys left are the Octo-Knotties and a rubber bone. I need to go toy shopping again and I'm defiantly going to buy more HuggleHounds with Tuffut Technology. I do believe that is the reason why Octo is still around. And it washes up well too!

I purchased this toy for my super strong chewer (pit-mix). She can normally tear to shreds a stuffed toy in less time that it will take me to write this review. This toy (and the bear & moose from hugglehounds) have lasted us almost 3 weeks!

This is not to say that they don't look a little worse for the wear (missing ends of feet, noses, squeakers, etc.) but she can still safely play with them and they are still recognizable!

My dog ate the leg and squeeker in about 15 minutes and had to go to a emergency vet visit (twice).

Our Vizsla loves his octopus. He runs around the house with it tossing it into the air. Don't listen to the person who rated this toy as a one star. It is too bad her dog got sick from one of these toys...but NO plush toy is durable enough for a dog's set of teeth...NONE. She has rated every huggle hound toy as bad. She has not said which toy was bad for her dog and, irregardless, all dogs should be monitored like children while playing with any plush toy. Dogs tear their toys quickly. Our dog just LOVES his Octo-knottie. So I think all dog toys are individual. It has lasted us for about 3 months without any tears. But we inspect his toys frequently and monitor him like our 2 year old while he plays.

I have have had this toy for my 2 Boxer babies for 9 months. They love to shake it so that all the legs flop. They play tug-of-war with it, and they chew on it. Other than one leg coming loose the toy still looks great. This is really saying something since 2 Boxers can destroy most toys in minutes. This brand is one of my go-to-brands when I need new toys. I would absolutely buy antoher hugglehounds toy for my dogs.

My little Bichon loves Octo. He immediately removed a leg the first day. After several weeks Octo is down to 4 legs.Wish the legs could be sewn on stronger.
