Great chair,

Although I agree with the first reviewer, there should be equipment for hanging, it is a great product none-the-less. My 10 year old daughter got this for Christmas and has already spent many hours reading in it. She absolutely loves it and to me that is reason enough to give it 5 stars. As for hanging, my husband found a sturdy, yet attractive ring at the hardware store. After bolting it into studs in the ceiling, he simply hung the chair using sturdy rope (holds up to 300 pounds) using a fishing knot. You can find a lot of info on these knots on the internet. Actually very easy to do.

Should include hanging hardware ...,

I bought three of these for my daughters for Christmas and they love them. So, if they were writing the review, it'd be 5 stars. However, I'm the guy that had to hang these things, which is a problem that is COMPLETELY ignored by the manufacturer. The "instructions" give only some basic safety tips - "don't hang it too high," "don't use metal on metal for hanging hardware," etc. I concede that I'm overthinking this; I'm an engineer - what can I say ... These are hung inside and I expect for my girls to use these into their early teens. So, we're talking ~80lbs. Add to that the fact that, since they're young, these things are going to see their share of fights and tugs-of-war. That means I need to account for well over a hundred pounds and some quite dynamic loads. I looked at a few spring options for the top, but none were ideal for this scenario (they all seem to have open-looped, half-circles that scared me into worries that the chair might come unhooked). I ended up using dynamic line climbing rope to hang the Hugglepods and, at the same time, provide some elasticity/shock absorption to help deal with the inevitable jumping into and out of the chair (Sterling Rope Fusion Nano Dry Rope). To secure the rope to the ceiling, I used Ny-Glide swing hangers (Ny-Glide Swing Hanger Heavy Duty) - I used these because they have a nylon bushing that should help keep the noise down and they open to allow me to remove the chair on the fly (I actually put hangers in a few locations). I, also, added a swivel in there, too (Black Diamond Rotor - similar to this), so that they could turn the chairs around, rather than having it always facing the same way. Like I said, I over-engineered this. I spent too much, I thought about it too much and addressed too many disaster scenarios with heavier-than-required hardware. And, that's why I give this thing a 2-star review. I came to that conclusion while investigating hanging options for the Hugglepod - IKEA sells a similar item (granted, not as cute) that comes with a very robust hanging solution at a lower price. In fact, most of the alternative hanging chairs out there come with a hanging solution. The old photo showed the chairs outdoors and hanging from, I guess, a tree ... if that's what you've got in mind, hanging these things will be a breeze. The newer photo, which shows the HugglePod hanging indoors, doesn't show the hanging hardware that was used. But, if you're hanging this indoors, good luck. Or, buy the IKEA chair and be done with it ... Other than my complaints about hanging, they seem well-made. There's a big, removable cushion that can be washed separately.

Nice Chair with some issues,

My son really loves this chair and it looks great in his room. Hanging it was a pain. There are no instructions or hardware and no recommendations except to have a professional hang it. Not helpful. Other chairs come with complete directions and hardware. I used a heavy bag hanging bracket and bought some rope at the hardware store. The good news is that my knot tying skills are now pretty good.I ended up buying another chair for my daughter and hung hers also. I used 2 screw eye hooks for this chair. NOW THE BAD NEWS. My son likes to twist in his chair and then let it spin him around. After a few weeks the chair completely ripped. So be careful letting your kids twist them up. 2115|R1BMOS79SZ7OLV;2115|R3PTUXDUTGH5BQ;2115|RV616UEUFJ6N0;
