Expand your horizons: use the Hughes HIRD-E11 second-room DIRECTV satellite receiver with your HSYS-E1132 DIRECTV Satellite System to bring exciting DIRECTV programming to your bedroom, home office, or kitchen, as well as to your living room. You'll get the full, plan-ahead viewing you already enjoy with your original dual-LNB receiver, as well as the ability to preselect your programming up to 72 hours in advance (with 32-event scheduling), a point-and-click pulldown menu, advanced self-tests, 4 favorite-channel lists, and nearly unlimited channels. The included universal remote control can operate your DIRECTV System and most brands of TV and VCR.
Hughes's proprietary Turbo Video Accelerator (an embedded 128-bit Intel microprocessor) grants unprecedented speed and onscreen functionality. Program up to 32 preselected programs to watch what you want, when you want--then forget about them and turn your attention to other things. You can organize your DIRECTV channels into convenient programming lists, then customize them with names of your choosing (e.g. "Dad's Faves," "Mom's Faves") for easy access.
You can also color-code programs listed on the handy onscreen programming for viewing ease--such as purple for movies, green for sports, red for news, and blue for other programming categories. The receiver will remember the 10 channels you spend most time watching, then compile them into a convenient "favorites" list. And, you can automatically skip blocked or non-subscribed channels to view only the channels in your subscription package. Access the system-test screen to run a series of internal diagnostics any time you want to check the receiver's performance.
There are some terms and conditions with the purchase of this product. There is a limit of one DIRECTV system purchase and installation per customer. Only new residential DIRECTV customers may purchase a system. Buying this item signifies agreement to sign up for one year of DIRECTV programming. receivers must be activated within 45 days by calling (800) DIRECTV [(800) 347-3288]. Failure to activate service (or canceling service within one year of subscribing) may result in a $250 charge to the credit card used for the purchase. All returned systems and receivers will be inspected for original parts and access cards. If a receiver is returned without its access card, a $125 restocking fee may be charged to the credit card used for the purchase.

About as basic as you can get...,

The Hughes HIRD-E11 DirecTV receiver is about as basic as you can get. It is extremely limited with only a 36-hour program guide and it is very difficult for anyone who wants to record a number of different series every week. You must remember to set your VCR to tape off the receiver PLUS remember to set the program guide so the VCR will record the right channel.If you order DirecTV from a local provider and they give you this box, ask if they can do better with one that has more functionality.

This is a very nice addition to my collection , but after seeing what this is capable of I threw out all of my others. I think that one should invest in this fine piece of technology.
