I got two of these receivers when I switced from cable to DirecTV Dec 3, 2004. So far I have not had any problems with either and now at 13 months later we are planning on expanding our system so I want to get two more along with a 2nd Tivo receiver.

This is without a doubt the finest performing SD sat receiver ever made. It is the ONLY sat receiver that allows you to adjust picture parameters at the receiver. You can tweak up the contrast, sharpness, brightness, and color adjustments BEFORE the signal reaches the VCR or DVD recorder. It also allows you to select SRS simulated surround sound (not as good as the real thing, but a lot better than stereo). They DO seem to die after a year or two, but everything has its down side.....

The product though sold as used was like new. If it had not had an invalid DirectTV card in the card slot it could has passed as new.

I have two of these receivers and I hate them. One of them died in one year, and I bought an rca receiver and it is much better. I will never buy something from hughes electronics ever again.
