A Bright Thread in the Tapestry of Our Nation's Heritage,
By Lou Sillay (Pickens County, GA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Huguenot Heritage: The History and Contribution of the Hugeunots in Britain (Paperback)
In my research of my French Huguenot ancestors the discovery of Robin Gwynn's book was the high point - a treasure. This book is concise, well-organized and written in elegant prose. It illuminated and enriched my understanding of that part of our history. I could hardly put it down.
For others who are researching Huguenot ancestors who first settled in Colonial South Carolina, I also recommend Arthur H. Hirsch's THE HUGUENOTS OF COLONIAL SOUTH CAROLINA, University of South Carolina Press. This second book, while not as concise, elegant or well illustrated; is the best source I have found on its subject. |
