A joyful, expressive, ladylike exercise,

This review is from: Hula For Health DVD (DVD)
This is a wonderful dvd workout. It's almost strange for me to say workout, it is hula, it is a beautiful dance. It does takes some getting used to, but the women dancing the hula have so much joy in them, it relaxes you and makes you feel like you can just laugh off your mistakes. If practiced regularly it definetly conditions and strengthens your muscles, especially in your legs!!! I would reccomend this dvd to anyone!! Kick boxing and Tae bo can be so violent and aggresive excersises, hula is graceful, alluring, and great for toning. You will enjoy your new toned body and beautiful expressive dance from practcing Hula!

Hula for Health,

I bought the VHS as a souvenir of Hawaii and I'm ordering the DVD. This is a light and easy workout, but certainly motivates one to get up and dance. Hula-ing with these beautiful ladies on a glorious beach - it will bring a big smile to your face! Mahalo!

Very sweet, but defintely not a "workout" video,

Okey, so I bought this video thinking maybe it will be helpful for working out . . .Well let's say it's got a couple good things going for it. Real women dancing the hula, and slow moves that you can follow--sort of. The music is definitely the traditional sort, and you are introduced to the terms of the dance. Patricia is a very encouraging teacher. The last segments of dance are very fun to watch. However, if you have two left feet you may get discouraged easily because she does not break down the steps for you. You need would need to pay attention to the Warm Up segment to get that down first. Also the dub over is not too great there are times you will wish she gave better direction in how a move is done like the turns. The cool down segment is half cool down, half Patricia in her "quiet place". So you get alot of scenic pictures and NO instruction on doing the cool down. The last segments of dance are not broken down for you to try. You would have to familiarize yourself with the moves from the earlier segments before you could do it. I think this would be a good video if you have had some introduction to hula already, but if you are new to the dance (or just can't dance) this may not be the best video for you. I still like the Neena and Veena Bellydancing videos for working out better.
