This book brings back world politics from the early 21st century, so as you read through the story you can relate to the obstacles Katherine faces to become president.
She also has friends who wish to help her, but like any political candidate, Katherine has some secrets.

This story shows the dark and bright side of politics and it brings a lot of emotions to the reader. Love, war, pain, suffering, and even a bit of sci-fi twists are in this book. It makes you think about the secrets and tactics the government uses to deal with world politics, and it will make you think of your own stance for several popular issues we face today.

Hulagu's Web, is very compelling book to read. I loved the story of a Woman running for President number one, and Kat Laforge, would make a very good candidate. She is the "Perfect Woman", one who appeals to all sides of every political party. The book is a great read, and it becomes a battle between what's good in this world, and what's evil, and I feel it would make a great movie! It is a very thought provoking book, and will make you question yourself and your beliefs, by the time you finish.
I found the book intriguing, and wanted to do more for the political world after reading about Kat's journey.
I can see where the book will anger some people in the political field, as well as some other groups, but, if you do the research, into the depths of history, you will find that the majority of things that the book brings to light, are True. You may not like to hear them, or read about them but they are history. Things that are swept under the rugs by media and politicians and other countries, to make things seem better than they really are. My suggestion, is read it with an open mind, and an open heart

Hulagu's Web: The Presidential Pursuit of Senator Katherine Laforgeis an inspiring book. It is a fascinating book. I actually had a hard time putting it down. You can feel the passion the author has for the goals and setbacks of Senator Katherine Laforge. As the author details the accounts of her campaign trail in the Presidential race, the reader sees a different side of Laforge that most never knew.

The reader will feel the confusion that the world felt when her campaign bus was involved in a horrific crash killing members of her staff. Assassins that were hired to kill her planned the attack on the bus that caused the deadly crash. Katherine's road to recovery is so detailed that one cannot help but feel as if they were right there by her side.

The war in Iraq and the escape from her nightmare add a new spin to this incredible woman's dedication to our fine country. For a time, it was not known if she was live or dead. The news hit home for many of her friends and family. She was a survivor, but her life was forever in danger. Her rise up in the government brought about many joys as well as sorrow. Senator Katherine Laforge will always be remembered with diligence and respect.

The book is so well written with both a professional side and personal side of Katherine that anyone who reads it will feel as if they indeed do know this outstanding woman. As you read about the assassination attempts, her recovery and her overwhelming desire not to give up, you see another side of Katherine Laforge.

The book is an attack on social issues and makes a person more aware of what happens when someone is in the political spotlight. After 330 pages, I am now a huge fan of Senator Katherine Laforge. If only we had a Presidential candidate like her to turn things around. This was a book that I received in the morning and then sat and read it for most of the day.

The author David Hearne tells it like it is with regards to Washington politics and terrorism through this political thriller. This book is off and running from the first sentence and doesn't stop until the end.

Senator Katherine Laforge appears both as a simple and as a complicated heroine. She is single minded in her pursuit of the Presidency and America's safety. She is a pragmatic in terms of how she looks at the country's problems and has little time for the games politicians play. Hearne has developed a strong heroine with many layers that when removed reveal a complicated woman on a mission to counteract terrorism, our dependence on OPEC and to free America from taxation tyrany; sanctioned or not. She'll also do whatever is necessary to keep America safe.

Hulagu's Web is a very exciting book! The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat (which is rare for a book these days). As I read about the alternative energy ideas in Hulagu's Web I was compelled to research them on my own. Mr. Hearne is very informative and accurate while spinning a great tale.

The twist was amazing! All in all this is a great novel, a must read!!

This book is fast-paced and captivated from the opening scene to the very last chapter. This book can fit into many genres such as: mystery, thriller, politics and science fiction; all at one time. It is an action packed novel that leaves you wondering what is going to happen next, and the answers may surprise you.

Katherine LaForge is a Texas state senator running for the presidency. She is the type of politician you would want to support, full of new, innovating ideas about taxes and the constant struggle with Iraq. Katherine endures many struggles on her way towards presidency including many attempts on her life. The book grabs your attention from the beginning. The Senator's bus is on the side of the road full of bullet holes and missing parts, an obvious assassination attempt. As the book continues, Katherine's life is replayed through the mind of her childhood friend. He takes us back to her childhood and through one of the previous attempts on her life.

David Hearne knows how to capture the reader's attention and hold on to it throughout his story. His descriptions paint a great picture of the scene as he sees it in his mind's eye. He places just enough detail in the story so that it makes sense, but not so much that it becomes boring. Hearne shows us a world in which we can relate too and issues that are going on around us today. Hearne tries not to leave anyone out by including terrorist, political, scientific, and private interest groups.

This book is a great thriller with plenty of twists and turns. It causes you to think outside the box and examine your true beliefs. Expect the unexpected with this novel, and stay on your toes because you never know what mysteries lurk behind each page. If you love a good thriller
