This review is from: Hum & Strum / Other Chet Atkins (Audio CD)
I first bought a copy of 'The Other Chet Atkins' in 1960. My wife and I played the old vinyl LP until it would play no more (though we still have it...somewhere!) I was thrilled when I came across the CD version on Amazon recently. Nowadays it is bundled with Hum and Strum, which is not one of Chet's best ! When the CD arrived I was a little apprehensive.....you know the rule, never go back to somewhere you enjoyed years ago....it will have changed. However when we played the disc the reaction was 'I had forgotten what a great album this is' and we are playing the thing over and over. This is Guitar artistry at its finest. Chet Atkins brought such enjoyment that it is a shame he was not English, if he had been he would have certainly been 'Sir Chet' or even 'Lord Atkins'. Thanks for all the pleasure Chet....we already miss you.
