Very nice!,

This is now one of my fav movies. I loved "When Harry met Sally". Didn't want that story messed with. But this one is similar but not quite. But well done in the Indian context.
Come to think of it, I didn't find any editing issues with this movie like I would find with most Bollywood movies. MAybe, the last bit of stretching the ending could have been done away with. But old habits are hard to die in Bollywood I guess. I loved the interaction between the protagonists. This is not just eye candy and overly and cloyingly emotional hyper drive you find in Bollywood movies. You know the ones where they manipulate you to squeeze tears out of you. None of that BS. Job well done! Greatest love stories ever told on film: http://www.amazon.com/gp/richpub/listmania/fullview/R2KA5HYKSJ862R/ref=cm_pdp_lm_title_1

Saif Ali khan and Rani or some of my favorite actors to watch in bollywood films so of course I enjoyed this one. I know I only gave it 3 stars but that's only because I've seen better but it's definitely enjoyable and has some good humor and songs.

Saif and Rani have good chemistry in this quiet charmer of a movie. These are 2 very solid actors and they do an excellent job here. I think Saif particularly gave a class performance.
As Saif's character is a cartoonist we have little animations that parallel relationship questions and observations. They did this very well. This movie is definitely recommended for the romantics with a gradual connection building over the movie. There are some nice songs here too. This is a movie that seems to appeal to all age-groups and to be generally rated above average on other sites. It feels a bit more 'real' that many Bollywoods but still has the light feel Bollywood lovers appreciate. Recommended.

It's Ok. It is Modern. Amazon sold it for a Nice Price. The story is good. The language was a tad bit rough in one or two spots. Not any immorality that we could see. No religious elements really, either. Also no violence.

This is just another Yash Raj film from Bollywood that can't help but sell because it has the basic chemistry of what people expect of a Yash Raj film. For me, it has Rani Mukerji, my most favorite beloved actresses of Bollywood. I know no woman any more beautiful than her, but in Bollywood, there are hundreds of Indian actresses that are more beautiful than any one American actress that I could think of right now.Plus, this movie stars Saif Ali Khan, another standard favorite of Bollywood fans. Surprisingly enough, this is a Yash Raj film that does not have Shah Rukh Khan in the film, so I would imagine that Yash Raj will expect Rani Mukherji to sell this film. Why do I sound so technical in analyzing this film? I do this because I've already recognized a formula that Bollywood relies on to sell a film. If you an English speaking American, and are new to Bollywood films, let me give you a breakdown of how I interpret and ingest the Bollywood experience: First of all, you will most always be reading English subtitles. The average Bollywood film is about 3 hours long. Bollywood films are very colorful. All their beautiful fashion, and colorful dance floors. In High Definition, just the sceneries alone make you appreciate what High Definition is all about. About 30 percent of the film will be music videos (with Yash Raj films, it's more like about 45 percent). About 30 percent of most Bollywood films have some rather silly, really unfunny, and downright annoying comedy scenes (which is usually in the first half of the film), then the film will start to become more serious, as it moves along. One of the main reasons why you will watch a Bollywood film, is because you already chose to fall in love with one of their many beautiful actresses, or handsome actors. (I personally try to see all Rani Mukherji films, and Shah Rukh Khan is the one actor known to be one of the biggest box office sellers of Bollywood.) So, I guess I can honestly say that I have about 10 Blu-Ray Bollywood films which about 7 of them are Yash Raj releases. Thouugh I have about 100 Bollywood films on DVD, all I really care to get on Blu-Ray now is "Lagaan" which was the first Bollywood film that I saw about 10 years ago. And perhaps "Mann" with Aamir Khan, and "Rangeela" which stars the enchanting Urmila Matondkar.

Hum Tum is a romantic comedy based on the classic "When Harry Met Sally," and I mean BASED ON not remake. So don't be afraid of it ruining another movie for you. The major similarities between this and "When Harry Met Sally," is the relationship developes over many years, they are radically different people in thier opinions and tastes, and end up much better people in the end because of the relationship they have formed. The Film was really insparation for Hum Tum.
The story starts with Karan and Rhea meeting on a plane (both around college age, early 20s) where Karan tries to flirt with Rhea and gets no where. They part ways in Amsterdam vowing to hate each other and never wanting to see the other. But fate is tricky and has it's own idea of fun. They meet a few months later, then three years later at Rhea's wedding, later again in Europe, and eventually become friends and fall in love (with losts of misunderstandings). Each time they meet they're relationship changes: hate, respect, friendship and eventually love. While all this is happening the audience experiences thier family troubles, whether or not they are successful in thier careers and thier growth from young and idealistic (sometimes lazy and unmotivated) individuals to adults who are wiser and ready for the love that has developed between them (in fact by the end of the film they are both at least in thier mid thirties and anything but silly lovers). It is a sweet film that is rather low key in the song/dance department, and really works because of the acting. Not a single character was badly acted (even the best friend and parent roles were well done), and the leads had good chemistry. It isn't flashy, and not all of the movie is memorable because its understated and more subtle. Ironically the thing i didn't like the most, which was supposed to be a really creative aspect of the movie, was the little animated character bits that represent the battle of the sexes and changing relationship between the leads. I just didn't like those bits and they weren't funny when they felt like they should be (maybe stuff got lost in translation). Good film, fluffy, worth the watch because of the acting.

Rani,
This review is from: Hum Tum Bollywood DVD With English Subtitles (DVD)
Any movie in which Rani has a title role is worth watching; if for nothing more than her voice. She has a way of eliciting both sympathy and empathy at the same time. You want nothing more than for her to be happy. She does not have the ability to act badly, so that is not an issue. The issue is- does she end up happy?! She did... and so did I.

Hum Tum (You and Me) We didn't see eye to eye!!,
A Kid's Review

(Written by a 15 year old)
I have seen a handful of Bollywood movies and am trying to further my collection of movies I have seen and own! When I first came across Hum Tum it was for a school project for which I had chosen to do a segment on Bollywood and was looking for some songs when I stumbled upon Gore Gore, an incredibly good song, and hoping the movie followed in its footsteps I purchased it, along with Jab We Met and Kuch Naa Kaho!!! Hum Tum I viewed last and after following these truly funny and adorable movies Hum Tum came up short!!! I don't know what really rubbed me the wrong way, was it the weird cartoon characters Hum and Tum, was it the incredibly ugly haircuts of Karan (played by Saif Ali Khan), or was it the predictable and at times, yawn, boring parts. I have to attest when I told my friend about my purchases she feared I wouldn't like either Kuch or Hum but where Hum Tum fufilled the premonitions, Kuch Naa Kaho did not, maybe because although predictable, Abhishek and Aish did amazing performances and really had me falling in love right along side them! Don't get me wrong every one has their own taste in movies, and you might thoroughly enjoy Hum Tum, but if I was you, save the money and purchase two incredibly better movies: Jab We Met and Kuch Naa Kaho!!! I mean Jab has Shahid need I say more :-)!
