3.0 out of 5 stars A bit dissapointing
The book give's some startling insights about accupunture: the human Antenna! But the for a book that receives so many awards the information in the book is a bit low. The author needs a lot anecdotal ado for getting to a point. Also the information about the chakra's is a bit boring and not consistently distilled from all the writers he praise about. If you wan't to know...

This review is from: The Human Antenna: Reading the Language of the Universe in the Songs of Our Cells (Paperback)
Dr Robin Kelly presents an intriguing mixture of eastern and western approaches to health, and how these seemingly divergent models are at times both necessary in the pursuit of wholeness and wellness. It is rare to find a practitioner trained in both disciplines, who can also both demonstrate and explain how these modalities overlap, and how manifestations of physical symptoms of dis-ease can at times have matching states of a psychological or deeper energetic imbalance located within the mind or subtle bodies. It is better still, to be able to read first hand the experiences of someone who has the ability and stamina to attempt treating such dis-eases in patients, drawing on both these modalities, and the relevance to recent findings in quantum medicine.

Dr Kelly's personal anecdotes are enthralling and useful in relaying to the reader how his journey has unfolded to date. The real understanding of the greater picture of what a HUMAN ANTENNA is all about came after reading the numerous stories of his patients peppered throughout ANTENNA. These stories helped me to appreciate more practically, how our feelings and perceptions of the more intense experiences in our life can end up influencing our body's systems - including the 'memes' inherited between generations. This blending of theory and practice can only be done by a true practitioner; someone at the coalface. It becomes pretty obvious early on from reading ANTENNA that Dr Kelly's experiences in the mainstream allopathic general practice business, hospices, and acupuncture practice has enabled him to have a pretty invigorating and robust view on the challenges facing people in managing their health. Dr Kelly unpicks these challenges primarily through his knowledge of acupuncture, EFT, the chakra and meridian systems, and how using these techniques can complement the western training he received in London where he qualified as a doctor.

Given ANTENNA's reference to "Songs of our Cells" in the title I expected a bit more on the use of sound as a healing technique, and look forward to absorbing Dr Kelly's knowledge in this area as part of hopefully his next installment.

Overall, ANTENNA relays an inquisitive and engrossing account of one health practitioner's journey to better his ability as a healer, portrayed in a down to earth style, without the new age hype. Great value, highly recommended to readers interested in getting more out of their health professional, and those wanting to improve their overall quality of life.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you suffer from unexplained illness you must read this book., June 3, 2008
This review is from: The Human Antenna: Reading the Language of the Universe in the Songs of Our Cells (Paperback)
Physician Robin Kelly could have simply accepted and practiced what he had learned in medical school, but his concern for his patients combined with a personal crisis brought about by what he ascribes to "thin-skinned human antennas" brought him a new perspective on the mind-body-spirit connection. It was from his perspectives of clinical practice and personal response to the stress of practice that he noticed what clinicians who take the time discern: physical illness and emotional upset are intertwined. Dr. Blake noticed how lung disease could reflect repressed grief and how heart diseases could have roots in blocked love and acceptance of self and writes, "Feelings...were closely aligned to being." He goes on to explain how you not only could fall more vulnerable to the toxicity of known diseases but also to the vast category of unexplained illness (chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia etc.) because "...those of us who are thin-skinned human antennas absorb a wide range of wavelengths and as a result our systems become overloaded."
Mindful of the importance of science Dr. Kelly goes on to explain how he conceptualizes our antenna qualities. He informs us that his country New Zealand shares with Australia the highest incidence of male suicide; that in a land of beauty, education and opportunity, men end their lives prematurely. He says that isolation and meaninglessness are the reason for these deaths and so he begins to address the need for concordance in the song of our cells and ultimately a resonance with the universe. The Human Antenna is a wonderfully in-tune book filled with diagrams, explanations, stories and wisdom. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful overview of the importance of mind-body medicine, August 17, 2009
This review is from: The Human Antenna: Reading the Language of the Universe in the Songs of Our Cells (Paperback)
This is a valuable addition to the growing stream of revolutionary books on holistic health care coming from medical doctors. They all start with the doctors feeling the same ache of knowing that the mainstream medicine they were taught to practice was not necessarily serving the best interests of their patients. Each of them finds his or her own path to discovering a way to focus on the whole patient - body, mind and spirit - and integrate other tools into their practice, like nutrition, energy medicine, guided visualization, and most importantly, taking the time to listen and understand the broader context of the patient's life.

In "The Human Antenna" Dr. Kelly anchors each step in the narrative of his own journey to integrative medicine in the growing body of evidence that we are energy beings who respond to the world around us in ways that are not explained by conventional medicine but rather by quantum science. Dr. Kelly offers lucid explanations of sometimes complex physical principles and overlays them on principles of Eastern medicine in practice for thousands of years. He shows how the work of pioneers like Bruce Lipton and Carolyn Myss illuminate the interplay between the emotions, the environment and the manifestation of symptoms in the body.

He goes through the energy centers of the body and describes the kind of emotional blockages that are often linked with physical problems associated with each chakra. He illustrates each with case studies, therapies and exercises to relieve the imbalance, and give additional tools and resources in the appendices.

This book provides a wonderful overview of the importance of mind-body medicine, and would be an excellent introduction to the field for professional and layperson alike.

This book explains, in an easy-to-read and entertaining style, how modern science and ancient wisdom can help us heal from real, everyday illnesses.
Sacred geometry, holographic science linking our DNA with the chakras, and valuable practical exercises. Concepts that challenge our conditioned beliefs, and help open minds and hearts to the new consciousness. Highly recommended.

The Human Antenna: Reading the Language of the Universe in the Songs of Our Cells

Robin Kelly, MD of New Zealand and I successfully connected through his take on the ways DNA sends and receives vibration locally and remotely.

When our own antennae-derived vibration resonates in harmony with the greater biosphere, the biofeedback acts like a map to guide one's conscious evolution and self-healing.

Distortion reflects in our health, in ways which are characteristic-categoric-allegoric mirroring one's degree of self-love and acceptance of others. For example, auto immune disorders, like lupus, diabetes (insipidus), and certain types of rheumatoid arthritis can be metaphoric for self-denial.

Not simply a fascinating discussion, this book generously suggests modalities to help readers "tune-in" and align with the present experience, and astonishingly, health issues resolve when we do.

This review is from: The Human Antenna: Reading the Language of the Universe in the Songs of Our Cells (Paperback)
I am sure there are many doctors, especially in the field of energy medicine, who would identify with the contents of Dr Kelly's excellent book. However, few would have such a clear understanding of such a wide body of knowledge, and even fewer would be able to craft such a clearly written book. I commend him for having the courage to "stand outside the square", while practising as a medical practitioner.
I cannot help thinking of the line from Wind in the Willows- "You are so eloquent dear Badger, and put your point so frighfully well".
Congratulations Robin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spiritually, Physically and Intuitively Enlightening!, July 15, 2008
By
D.R.Thomas (In The Grid, Just Like You) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Human Antenna: Reading the Language of the Universe in the Songs of Our Cells (Paperback)
Dr. Kelly gives us a first hand perspective of life through information that has been intellectually, intuitively and spiritually ubiquitous to us all along. This book offers exquisite insight into the spiritual realm of healing, NO FAITH REQUIRED! Dr. Kelly's book guides you along his own spiritual growth identifying how and why he has become a medical practitioner beyond the orthodox. This book is everything that I thought it was going to be, and more! While Dr. Kelly's profession is a healer/medical physician, and the book's premise is alternative medicine, I personally found the book spiritually enlightening! Subjects within the book I have now added to my own spiritual path and have had a myriad of my own intuitive insights validated.

For those that buy this book and are looking for validation from a professional on alternative medicine, this is a start. For centuries cultures around the world have been immersed in intuitive spiritual scripture of alternative medicine that has become derelict and repudiated by the Western trained physicians. By merely glancing at the industrialized, and severely impersonal, medical service that we receive in the West you will find how depredating it is on our physical and spiritual existence. Even with the excessive prescriptions we receive health is still in a sever decline and this is ironically the advent for more pharmaceutical "answers." Here in America, we are the most pharmaceutically induced nation in the world, and along with that, the most poor in health and spirituality-i.e., we have a lot of religions, and bigots from them. The precarious position we globally sit as the Western medical philosophy encompasses the world is that our health and spirit is in jeopardy. Albeit, maybe we can find a serendipitous outcome from the wrongs of the current "rights" of the health industry. This could very well cause a visceral shift towards a more spiritually holistic healing with prescriptions of organic properties and procedures. People around the world have finally realized that our health is the not the catalyst for all medicine, but initiated by profit. As a populous we are merely a physical incarnation of the stock market that are bought, sold and traded based on whims and penchants of the Pharmaceutical Industry. Unfortunately, we as the bought/sold/traded pay the dividends with our souls.

Even though I have bestowed upon Dr. Kelly five stars there is one thing I emphatically disagree with him on:

Throughout the book he takes a few jabs at those who use hallucinogens or natural drugs (mushrooms, marijuana) to enhance their spiritual path. While I do not believe that you have to use these substances to procure spirituality I do believe they can definitely strengthen your grasp beyond the physical world. Now, by no means, am I advocating that you must use them for your spiritual path, but rather saying that there are those people past, present and future that have/do/will use them. Out of hallucinogens and natural drugs man has felt for eons more connected to the spirit and there have been some sort of drug used in nearly every ancient culture. Lastly, I will say that in no way am I saying that these things makes another individual more spiritual than another. More appropriately, I will just say that the tools of the trade vary amongst each individual's spiritual path.

Well its a great book and must be read along The Biology of Belief and Genie in Your Genes to come full circle. All three make a solid ground for understanding how we are resposible for our own healing and exciting potential for very near future developments. Money well invested...proud of you Dr. Kelly, Dr. Lipton and Dr. Church!
