My favorite science curriculum,
By School Marm (West Virginia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Human Body (God's Design for Life) (Paperback)
This has been the best science curriculum we have used in our homeschool so far. The hands-on learning activities are inexpensive, creative, and helpful. I really appreciate that it is constructed to be used as a family, so both my 1st grader and 5th grader can study the same topic at the same time. All of the body systems are covered EXCEPT the urinary and reproductive systems. I can understand why it wasn't, but I wanted that information for my students. I also think the quizzes at the end of each lesson were a little too simplistic for older students. I wrote my own, but their quizzes were a good starting point. I do love this curriculum and it is the only science I will use until my students reach the high school level.

My family and I like all the books in the God's Design series! (I heard they were coming out in color). The BW version suits us just fine. They are written from creationist/intelligent design viewpoint. The lessons are parent/child friendly and easy to follow. The books consist of introducing the topic, making observations, doing experiments, wrapping it up and then, after a few chapters, you'll have a unit test. There are icons that help the parent with their child's learning style (auditory, visual, kinesthetic). The curriculum can be used for an entire school year (about 35-36 weeks @ 1 ch. a wk.), a semester or you may choose to do what we are doing which follows a classical aproach....We cover the 3 books in the series in a school year. Animal Kingdom (fall), Human Body (winter), Plant Kingdom (spring and into summer session if needed). The main reason I love this series is because it is very practical. You can use it just as it is or you can EASILY increase the difficulity through the suggested cheap materials (stop watch, foil, balloon, Q-Tips) and library resources. I hope you enjoy it as much as we have.

Lies and misrepresentations,
By djarm67 (QLD Australia) - See all my reviews

Typical creationist lies, wrapped up and marketed quite well to deceive the scientifically illiterate home schooling parents. Save you money and your children. Buy a "real" science book.DJ |
