Very interesting,
By Hans Hummel (Denmark) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Human Figure: The Complete Dresden Sketchbook (Paperback)
This book is so interesting as it shows how Dürer was constructing the human figure. He used geometry and many different proportional systems. There is even one heroic man of ten headlengths.
Needless to say his artistic ideals were very different from those today. I would highly recommend this book to all interested in figure drawing as well as the history of art. You will come closer to actually understanding such a wonderful artist as Dürer. You will also get to see how hard he was working so that he could truly understand and master the human figure. His work in this book is very impressive. |
