What is interesting about this Human Jerky (1999) is the ferocity of the music: Extremely distorted guitars and non-stoping blastbeats are the background to a high-pitched voice with a lower end in the back (wich is different to the new releases, with the death growls over the screamings. The songs are pretty fast and the average lenght is about one minute per track (!) (just like the the old Napalm death or Carcass)Lyrics are explicit and gore oriented, so be careful because you're gonna hear words like: colon, carnage, bowels, stench, etc.

Production is not the best, but is enough to ¨understand¨ the tracks. Album cover art is awesome, a decapitated cow over a puddle of blood. If you have the oportunity to find the picture disc (a 12" LP with the art printed over the vinyl) go for it! It's hand numbered, limited to 1500 copies in the world, and the cover art looks better than the regular CD.

Cattle decapitation first official record (let's forget about ¨Ten torments of the dammed¨) is great as a starting point, but you should check ¨Homovore¨, ¨To serve man¨ and ¨Humanure¨ to understand the evolution of the band. Oh, I forgot, their 7¨ split with Caninus is amazing because it has the Human Jerky-ish grinding brutality with the addtition of an outstanding production and a more complex songwritting.

the debut album by the vegan gore masters CATTLE DECAPITATION is as intense and furious as any grind record ever released. the album starts out with a catchy sample, then your pile driven to the ground by an intense barrage ov blast beats guitar riffs and INSANE vocals. travis ryan in my opinion is one ov the BEST vocalists ever for death metal or grindcore. his delivery especially in the early works by cattle decapitation are un- rivaled. his deeps also known as "gutterals" are absolutely menacing, and sound just sick which is a very very good thing :) and his high pitched "screams" sound like a pig being slaughtered, its really a treat! and on this album he doubles em up in the mix, meaning the same verse is said with both the gutterals and the screams at the same time, much like glen benton ov DEICIDE used to do back in the day. the lyrics are awesome and really get you more absorbed into whats going on with the music. this is a very short album, most tracks are about 45 seconds long. dont let that stray you away from this though, because what it lacks in length makes up for with un-matched brutality and speed. this is for death metal/ grindcore fans only. and if your new to this band this is the perfect place to start. also suggest TO SERVE MAN as the next one after this, HOMOVORE is much ov the same as this album and to serve man was the first album they really focused on the death metal side ov things, which is currently the style they play today. CATTLE DECPAITATION is in my opinion the best death/grind band ever. pick this up and prepare for the gore!!!!

This is definitely extreme music. Of the 18 songs, only three are over 1 minute long, and two of those are exactly 1 minute long. I have classical and doom metal CDs with 1 song longer than this entire CD. The last song, of course, is only 1:05 long, with a long silent period followed by a weird telephone call to an Albertson's meat department for about 1.5 minutes. Silly, but whatever. Utterly extreme grindcore, with dual processed deep monster vocals and screeching banshee shrieks. Lyrics detail body functions, diseases, disgusting decrepitude and decomposition, all for the sake of the vegan/vegetarian agenda. 18 songs at 16:10 total play time. I suggest "karma.bloody.karma" for these guys as a more serious death-gore effort.

Do people actually listen to this noise? The only merit I can see in groups like Cattle Decapitation is that their album artwork always pushes the definitions "sick" and "grotesque".

A friend recently bought this on picture disc just for the artwork. I convinced him to play it to find out if the music was as repulsive as some of the song titles.

What a hellish din! There are no 'songs' as most people understand a song to be, just a non-stop grinding assault on the senses. If this recording is popular anywhere, it must be in Hell's Top Ten.

Of course, there are some people who pretend to like this sort of aural rubbish, but I can't imagine anyone serious about music finding any entertainment value in Human Jerky beyond the warped artwork that graces the packaging.
