This is the very last concert HL did (at least as of this writing). Excellent performance, 16x9 aspect which is perfect for HDTVs. Good use of camera work and the sound quality is excellent using Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound (you can appreciate the instruments and vocals taking advantage of the Home Theater experience).

As a sidebar, I often wonder if a quality piece like this will be available in high definition (1080i or 1080p). It needs to be because it seems very apparent throughout the show that this would be the very last concert HL will ever do... and too a degree you sense that emotion during the concert.

It certainly is a celebration of: the Human League, the talent that came from Sheffield and the creativity of the New Wave movement in the early '80s. A very fun DVD.

The bonus area includes pictures from the last tour, a home made camcorder take on behind the scenes... but the thing that sells the extras is the interview (almost an hour long). If you never seen an interview of the HL, this would be an excellent start. I've seen several interviews of them through the years and the thing that always strikes me is that their story is always consistent and honest. You definitely leave that segment with the idea of how real and "human" the Human League really are.

If you've ever liked the Human League, you need to get this live DVD. You'll be glad you did.

A long time fan of the League,i have waited years to see a live concert. One would expect that an electronic or synth band wouldnt be so hot live...well the League are in a class all of their own, excellent from start to finish with a Brilliant intro of Hard Times/Love Action only minor gripe is that Joanne doesnt seem to feature as much as Susan and Phillip in the visuals but its made up for in the excellent performances by all three. Great extras too including interviews, photos, and montage of behind the scenes footage of the Usa tour.

Back around 1980 there emerged a band from Sheffield, England
with an album of synth-pop named Human League. The dance floors
were packed with those who thought Phil was super cool, and the
two girls "dancing" with him set the tone for a multi-million
show, [helped by 'Dare'] that lasted 23 years, or thereabouts.

Phil and his sidekicks set Human League up as a business from
the start. When this DVD was filmed, they were a fully fledged
corporation at the end of a dream come true.I am not convinced
that the DVD does them full justic. The lights interfere with
the photography, but the 5.1 digital sound makes amends for this.

The synthesizers were programmed correctly and Phil's voice
is still good, but needs to stay a semitone or so below his
halycon days of tenor. By the end of this "last concert"??
his voice had disappeared back to Sheffield.I have always
admired Human League. Good old Sheffield steel and wry
northern humour. It's hard to beat!

6 years have passed since that night at the Brighton Dome. I
no idea if Phil grew his hair, or Susan cut hers.Looking back
at Human League you hear songs like "Louise", a beautiful love
song. How about "Darkness"? Really it's not about depression,
but once again love.Phil is the consummate romantic.Always
looking for that which is mostly unattainable. It's OK Human
League..many will love you forever..which includes me. I know
Sheffield well. I know the "Snake Pass", I love all 'Northern
Music'[The Smiths. ABC.Echo and the Bunnymen,to name but 3 out
of hundreds]. Go buy this DVD for old times sake. The bass synth.
'hook' lines will blow you away!

As a fan of The Human League for many years owning this dvd is special. Phil, JoAnne, and Susan do the real deal, when they do a live show they are singing live, not faking it with machines like many new acts do. I was very pleased to watch them do some of my favorites Mirror Man, Hard Times, The Lebanon, Human, and The Sign. I have yet to see them live in person, someday I will till then, this is good enough. For Human League Fans around the world for sure buy this dvd, I also liked that they did songs of their latest album, Credo, Electric Shock, ect. Human League is a class act that stands the test of time, something we cannot say about the majority of what is on today's music scene.

Susan's live version of "One Man In My Heart" alone makes this DVD worth the purchase, but man where's JoAnn??? Of Phil and Susan, you get every shot imaginable, including close-ups and even individual audience banter. But in JoAnn's case, you get side-shots, back-shots, VERY distant shots, and... an occasional very quick-cut view of about half her face. Zero close-ups. You almost get the impression that either a.) the camera operators' equipment somehow prevented getting many good shots of JoAnn, or b.) she preferred not to be on film very much. Don't get me wrong, the whole band is amazing, it's just sad that JoAnn is sort of off to the side and mostly overlooked by the cameras. Apart from that peculiarity, this is an excellent concert film, w/ sharp, clear picture and perfect audio. And you have to see Phil's performance during "Empire State Human" to believe it. It's hypnotic.
