The Human Molecule traces the historical development of the conception of the human being as an individual 'molecule'. The question of what is a 'human' has passed down through the ages as an unsolved riddle of curiosity? In partial solution to this query, the term "human molecule", as the definition of a person, was coined in 1869 by French philosopher Hippolyte Taine; the first rudimentary social, economic, and historical theories using the human molecule concept were developed in the early 20th century by those as Leon Walrus, Vilfredo Pareto, Henry Adams, and C. G. Darwin; and the first calculation of the molecular formula for a human being was made in 2000 by American limnologists Robert Sterner and James Elser. In modern terms, a person is defined as a 26-element reactionary molecule attached to substrate. The implications of this new philosophy point the way to a revolution in thought in areas such as life, work, free will, reactivity, marriage, purpose, and evolution.

A great start on the long journey ahead,

One of the most interesting topics I have ever had the pleasure to read. Going through it a second time, and looking forward to the third.This book covers the most fundamental change in human knowledge since Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species, by presenting a theory that we are fundamentally molecules, and that the question of life itself is a fundamentally flawed one. Especially important is the carefully laid out historical narrative of how Thims came to his theory of the human as a molecule. Whether you ultimately agree with this work or not, it represents a paradigm shift in viewing our place in the world.

When I was given this book to read I was VERY reluctant. I flipped through the book on the way home and thought I would NEVER understand it. However, from the first chapter I found references that I could not only relate to(From mythology to Plato and so on) but they also made the book something I could get through easily. Anything I didn't get right off I was able to look up thanks to the references and links in the back of the book.
I normally do not read this type of book but I liked that it challenged my mind and the way I think about my surroundings and the way we are all connected. I have to say Well Done and Thank you for the book!
