Book Description

Winnicott's ideas are scattered through numerous clinical papers and popular expositions. He made only one attempt to write an overview of his ideas, and this is it. As he says in the introduction, 'I intend to make a statement of human nature which gathers together the various types of experience which have been mine.'

4.0 out of 5 stars Not an easy read, but worth the work, July 4, 2011

This review is from: Human Nature (Hardcover)
Winnicott, here, forays into an "anthropology" in this work, which is not always accurate, it seems to me, but well worth the read--because it is thought provoking and intellectually stimulating as are all of Winnicott's works. In many regards it provides a background for how Winnicott understood the human being, and how this understanding both arose from his counseling work and in turn influenced his theories of object-relations. If one is interested in the history of psychoanalysis, then this is a fascinating and beneficial book to read.
