For those of us raised on the dry (but informative) Kolb and Whishaw standard text, Marie Banich's book is refreshing. The requisite information is conveyed in a manner that is simultaneously concise and descriptive. Her examples, figures and captions are engaging and memorable. This is one of the least verbose and self-indulgent textbooks I have ever read.
