Book Description

#1 selling book with great explanations, and just enough anatomy!

Now in its 10th edition, Fox is the best-selling book in this market. Clear explanations and a solid learning framework have been market tested and refined. Fox help students master the fundamentals by providing appropriate anatomical detail.

Human Physiology, Tenth Edition, is intended for the one-semester Human Physiology course often taken by allied health and other biology students. The beginning chapters introduce basic chemical and biological concepts to provide students with the framework they need to comprehend physiological principles. The chapters that follow promote conceptual understanding rather than rote memorization of facts.

Health applications are included throughout the book to heighten interest, deepen understanding of physiological concepts, and help students relate the material to their individual career goals. Every effort has been made to help students integrate related concepts and understand the relationships between anatomical structures and their functions.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book, easy to read and well organized, November 29, 2009

This review is from: Human Physiology (Hardcover)
I am almost done using this textbook for my intro physiology class. I have been very pleased with the overall readability and simplicity of the book. Fox explains things clearly and with just the right amount of detail (for an intro course). There are a few areas here and there that were a bit confusing, and my professor pointed out a few errors, but no text book is perfect.

Also, if this book is required for a class, you can probably get a way with using one of the older editions as the changes from edition to edition are minimal (renumbering or reordering graphs, or sometimes just changing the colors of the graphs!). In my class students used everything from the 11th edition to the 9th edition. The international edition is identical to the US one, not to mention cheaper and lighter (it's softcover).

5.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't part with this after the class ended, March 18, 2009
This review is from: Human Physiology (Hardcover)
Maybe it was just a great class, entertaining and knowledgeable professor (Dr. L. G. Thouin at Pierce College), or the subject matter, but I think the presentation of information, layout, and illustrations in the text helped keep me excited, motivated, and on top of a complex subject.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to read, easy to follow, October 19, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Human Physiology (Hardcover)
This book is easy (as easy as a human physiology textbook can be) to read and comprehend. It contains many full-color, 3-D diagrams which really helped me comprehend and memorize the necessary structures and functions. More specifically, the chapter and diagrams on kidney physiology made it worth the money alone.

Great condition, arrived promptly.
