The thrust of the book is about how the HRM function can be redefined to make it more effective. The authors explore outsourcing transactional work as a middle ground between being trapped in an administrative role or becoming strategic at the cost of abandoning these duties. The book addresses such basic questions as: How new business realities increase the demand for HR services and actions? What HR departments do to deliver value? What new business models for delivering HR will work? How to measure HR effectiveness? The authors examine a major HR business process outsourcer in action and provide case studies of four major companies that have reinvented their HR functions.
