A Great driving beat, gets to you and brings you along in this journey into "human" behavior. If you don't know or understand the lyrics, I can't help you. It goes much deeper than the surface.

The question is (of course) "Are we human or ...".

The first time I really listened to the song, (a) I played it about ten times in a row, (b) every time I played it I could hardly keep from weeping, and (c) I immediately thought of Jackson Brown's "For A Dancer". Please listen to that song in conjunction with this one (the version on the album Western Wall by Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris blows me away).

So, the answer. When we are born, we are human. When we die we are dancer. And in between we may be either, both, or neither, depending on who we are, what we have become.

"Human" is the latest single release from The Killers. The song has a driving beat, a melody with a retro-70s feel, and lyrics that have several layers of meaning. Listening to the song for the first time a person might get the impression that "Human" is a fun song with a nonsensical melody that's got a great rhythm to dance to. However, there is much more to the song and it touches closer to the soul than a typical pop song. Not only that, but the chorus of the song was inspired by a quote from Hunter S. Thompson. Not bad for a four-minute ditty recorded in one night.

I've always been a huge fan of The Killers, but Human is the song that really made me love them. It's incredible song, with insightful and meaningful lyrics. We need more songs like these in modern music

GREAT catchy song.. very philosophical lyrics. Thought provoking lyrics will catch your interest along with the catchy tune..
." Are we human? Or are we dancer? My sign is vital. My hands are cold.. And I 'm on my knee looking for answer, Are we human, or are we dancer?" Still trying to figure out the exact meaning, but the more you hear it, the more you understand it's meaning, and the more you hear it, the more you want to hear it again. It is one of those songs that stays in your mind and you end up singing it to yourself all day long. GREAT song!
Go on youtube and watch the Zimbabwean teen dance troupe perform it in the beautiful Zimbabwe countryside. This song is perfect for that.
This song is the best.

The lyrics to this song. Many think that being the dancer is the good choice and many of them are in this dance category. But when you truly listen to it you see that being human is dying. Today everyone tries to be different but in their quest they make themselves like everyone else going only on hearsay knowledge. Things that makes us human, love, good, devotion, etc. is rare to find. We live in a generation of dancers. That's not good.
My rant is over so enjoy this beautiful song by the killers. The beat is awesome.

Again The Killers have a great sound. Their songs are easy to move to the beat (cause they have a great beat!) and you can enjoy the music and the lyrics. Sure, not quite sure about the "are we human, or are we dancer" Cause well WHY singlure "dancer"?? Never got that but I don't look "into" the meanings of the songs - it my annoy me and I'd have to stop listening. DON'T STOP LISTENING! Enjoy this one on repeat a few times too.

Day & Age is just great! All the songs on this album are worth listening and at least for me... everytime there's a new album from The Killers I first get to think it won't be as good as the previous one but once you listen to it 3 times you notice it is as good or even better!
