warm and soulful,
This review is from: [ Human ] (MP3 Download)
Like the previous reviewer, I also found this artist on DI.fm.
I bought all the songs from [Human], and there is not a "bad" track on this album, which I think in itself says a lot. Most of the songs are very warm and bring an enchanted feeling to me. Many of them have a "familiar" sound, almost like I've heard them but the memories are too distant to remember. I think thats a result of his using techniques and melodies present in the earliest "electronic" music hits and prototypes from the 80's, and applying to them the newer high-tech instruments and grooves. I love this album and will be checking out more of Hol Baumann's music in the near future.

I first found this album by hearing the last song on di.fm's chillout channel. It's got a few tracks that, upon hearing them, I was just about ready to put them on reapeat and play a few (dozen) rounds of nethack.
Well worth a listen, even if you don't play nethack. Especially "[Human]" and "A Forgotten Ritual". |
