5.0 out of 5 stars These guys are the future... I hope so!!
Finding a band like this is totally refreshing. This album blows all the scene-knock-offs out of the water. You can tell that they didn't just show up to practice one day and say "Dude, we should totally sound totally hardcore" You can tell they are an inspired bunch of guys who got really creative with the songs they make. My favorites are "Guillotension" and...

2.0 out of 5 stars WTF happened?!
When I downloaded Don The Reader's free EP I nearly crapped my pants! Finally a new band with some extremely well constructed songs, brutal tones, and tons of raw emotion. I figured if this was the free EP what would Humanesque sound like?!

Honestly, it sounds like crap which really made me sad. DTR was a talented band with a lot to contribute to this metal...

DTR was a talented band with a lot to contribute to this metal sub-genre (please kids, lets not argue if they are hardcore, post hardcore, death core, slam core, or anything of that. All of this is just offsprings of metal, no need in fighting over stupid "sub genres", naming band's sounds does not a more original band make) Let me put it like this, as far as Don The Reader, the album is great, the songs are put together perfectly, the elements for some awesome music are all there. Where the problem lies is in the recording itself. What attracted me to the free EP was the bone-crushing, relentless tones these guys had. It sounded so full but not muddy. It was beautiful. But Humanesque was recorded, mixed, and mastered horribly. The production of this album is at maybe 25% effective. The guitars are weak and lifeless and do not give that powerful in your face aggression they should. The drums are so flat, no dynamics. The vocals could have been really great, but the recording quality is so low that they have nothing to make them stand out. Whoever cut this obviously didn't understand DTR's music.

So I hate to say it, but no, I just can't stomach the pathetic recording enough to listen to it. Much respect for such a well written album, but an album needs to be well produced as well. Don't waste your money, download the free EP, you won't be sorry.
