Book Description

December 1, 1997 0697340708 978-0697340702 3
The explosion of creativity that marked the European Renaissance provoked an unprecedented age of exploration and of cross-cultural encounter. From the depths of the Black Plague to the heights of Shakespeare's sonnets, book three of The Humanistic Tradition provides an exciting portrait of this period. In a compelling counterpoint to her description of the Renaissance, Fiero devotes a section to the cultures that came into increasing contact with the burgeoning West - the kingdoms of West Africa and the societies of North, Central, and South America.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could have been researched better, May 2, 2010

I have had the pleasure of reading better art history books, flat out. What makes this book so bland is that Fiero only scratches the surface and that leaves for a very boring detail of what she is attempting to provide.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not quite sure, January 22, 2009
It has been one week since the latest date the book should have arrived and it is still missing. I have contacted the seller and they merely told me they mailed it. The book itself is good, I've been reading another copy. My seller did not seem keen on assisting me at all.
