ok i found these guys on myspace. well, actually they found me but still.....after getting their friend request, i went to their page to sample the music and i wasn't disappointed. there are only a few songs from this album on the page but each one is worth the price of admission. DE play a great blend of melodic heavy power thrash thats very progressive. with clean vocals aplenty (thank you guys for not being a growly growl band) and some harsh vocals thrown in to offset the clean. this band in many ways reminds me of the danish metal band MERCENARY, which is in no way a bad thing. both bands sound is very similar. so if you're a fan of mercenary, you'll definately want to pick this up. and if you're just a fan of great metal, put this on your BUY NOW list. you dont want to miss this one.

Hard to believe no one has written a review for this album yet. Dark Empire is quite possibly the best new and unknown metal band out there right now. I was fortunate enough to get both copies of Distant Tides (normal release, and with the bonus track). When Humanity Dethroned was released, I wasn't disappointed. It's got a thrash/power metal feel with death growls here and there and keyboards blended very nicely. They're not overpowering and complement the music perfectly. The standouts on this album are Salvation Denied and The Apparition Sequence (which is the final three songs on the album). It's a shame that Jens Carlsson (also the lead singer for Persuader and Savage Circus) couldn't continue to record with these guys, as his vocals fit the music perfectly. But Matt Molliti (excuse the spelling, as it's probably wrong) knows how he wants this band to sound, and I'm sure he'll find a good replacement. If you're looking for a solid thrash album with excellent songwriting and outstanding soloing, pick this album up. It's well worth every penny.
