This review is from: Humanity At Stake: China's Aggression, Taiwan's Democracy, and 23 Million Citizens' Human Right to Self-Determination (Paperback)
Humanity at Stake is just a casual dialogue among a Taiwanese-American, a Chinese-Immigrant and an American-American. A simple explanation of the weird diplomatic status of Taiwan. Excellent foot notes help you understand the complicated political, historical and geo-economical situation of Taiwan.

A must read if you're a Taiwanese, or a Chinese, or an American concerning the stability of East Asia, the American value, and the dignity of humanity.

5.0 out of 5 stars The people of Taiwan and China are not so different culturally, August 8, 2008
This review is from: Humanity At Stake: China's Aggression, Taiwan's Democracy, and 23 Million Citizens' Human Right to Self-Determination (Paperback)
The people of Taiwan and China are not so different culturally, but their relationship is unique, and grows more so when the United States is involved. "Humanity at Stake" is a scholarly and thorough look at the discourse between the three nations, and their goals and concerns with one another. In the process, "Humanity at Stake" opens the eyes of readers to a conflict that doesn't get much air time in the American media. "Humanity at Stake" is of high interest to anyone who wants a better view of world politics as a whole.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Read, August 8, 2008

Mr. Young tackles the intricate issues of US-Taiwan-China relations with a unique, informative, and intriguing pamphlet-book. The dialogues between the three participants keep readers engaged, while the footnotes provide the necessary background explaining the historical and factual context surrounding the arguments.

For people who are already familiar with the issues, the book will likely lead to new or different perspectives. For people who are not familiar with the issues, the book is a great educational piece. For anyone who is interested in the issues, this is a must read.

This review is from: Humanity At Stake: China's Aggression, Taiwan's Democracy, and 23 Million Citizens' Human Right to Self-Determination (Paperback)
In this engaging work, the author Abraham Young uses a refreshingly new approach to examine the critical issue of the Taiwan-US-China relationship. In the form of a conversation between the author (who is a Taiwanese-American), an American former Air Force pilot, and a Chinese college student studying in America, the book is a heart-felt and thought-provoking exploration of Taiwan's predicament and the grave threat posed by the missiles - 1300, and growing each year - that China has aimed at democratic Taiwan.
