Editorial Reviews

The band takes their passengers on a live journey through Humanoid City, filled with impressive, futuristic, and urban scenery. The spectacular setting was created by Misty Buckley and her team. Lead singer Bill Kaulitz appears to be from a different univ

The DVD is edited amazingly -if that's what you can even call it!
It connects you to the band like no other DVD has been able to do and it just makes me want to be there in one of their live concerts.

I absolutely LOVE this cd/dvd set. A true Tokio Hotel fan will love everything about this. From the outrageous costumes, Toms solo in Pain of Love, or just Bills voice. Will definitely be worth your money. The next best thing to actually being there with them. TOKIO HOTEL FUR IMMER

It has been a long, long, long time since I've had my face so absolutely and utterly blown off as I have recently had.....by this band. The talent displayed here in both the live CD or DVD just does not come along very often. This band, both musically and vocally, is the REAL DEAL. Six months ago, I had never heard of them. Now, I am a huge fan. I would also like to add that I am not some 16 year old chick either.....I am a 53 year old musician who appreciates talent and well written tunes combined with incredible...and I do mean INCREDIBLE vocals. A quality rock band to say the least. Highly, highly recommended.....

Certainly the greatest show Tokio Hotel have ever made. Perfect editing and nice extras... but one single thing have gone wrong. The image quality is TOO low! They used a DVD-5 (4.7 GB) to store the video. If they had used a DVD-9 (8.5 GB) as they did with Zimmer 483 Live things would be a 100% perfect!

My first exposure to German glamrockers Tokio Hotel was on the John Lennon tribute album on Warner Bros for Amnesty International, "Instant Karma", them doing the title track, and I was like, cool...then as I collect Cherrytree artists, another reason to follow em...and I also love European rock bands, espesh Scandinavian ones and German ones, so they were up my alley...I also love ones that don't record/perform solely in English.

Soooo, I bought the BestBuy edition of "Scream" with the DVD, despite many calling them a boyband, or teenybopper/emo...I went with my gut and I really enjoyed it and intended on following TH...then I bought the 2CD BestBuy edition of "Humanoid"...with the 4 bonus English tracks and the whole 2nd disc of the album in German...I loved both versions, even though I don't understand a word of German and it could be a harsh-sounding language...it just added a certain character to the album's more electronic elements. THEN I found for cheap their 2nd German album "Zimmer 483", which I dug because it has many of the songs on "Scream" in their original German tongue, and Bill's higher voice, haha.

Then, this new "Humanoid City Live" and the 2CD/1DVD "Best-of", out around the same time...what to buy first?? Well, the Best-of was expensive at BestBuy, like 40 bucks...I figured I'm not paying THAT price, so I'll look for deals or it cheaper online...I know it's an import pressing (on Island/Universal Germany), shipped and priced domestically, which happens a lot...Universal US is importing the deluxe 2CD Florence & The Machine "Lungs" at the end of February, so I will buy it then. Anyhoo, just saw the "Best Of" here on Amazon new from a seller for 18 bucks...so I'm ordering it.

That means, it was "Humanoid City Live" that I bought next...

Wow, where do I begin in describing the glorious explosion of sight and sound that is Tokio Hotel's Humanoid City Live DVD/CD? First of all, the quality of the DVD is amazing. The concert footage is beautifully filmed and edited, and the sound is phenomenal. The show itself is incredibly well put together, with excellent transitions and pacing, and I love how they've thrown all these interesting little twists into the arrangements to make them different from the Humanoid studio album (ex: Tom's fab guitar solo in "Pain of Love" (speaking of that, why don't we get those more often?), a very cool acoustic version of "Humanoid," Bill singing the harmony part in the chorus of "Forever Now" instead of the expected melody). Heck, even the intermission is awesome - during a brief break for the band, the big on-stage screen is used to show video of the guys that includes a number of clips from their "baby days" when they were just the most adorable little rockers imaginable.

Then there's Tokio Hotel themselves. I admit the biggest reason for the attraction I've felt for this band since first getting on to them was my connection with the content of their song lyrics (I'm probably going to have to argue with a bunch of other TH fans about this, but I'm pretty sure every one of their songs was written just for me, LOL), so I was a little surprised to find myself so totally blown away by the sheer magnitude of the musical talent and charisma displayed in this performance, to say nothing of their energy level and commitment, which are completely off the charts. I'd say they are maturing brilliantly, and Tokio Hotel fans have a lot to look forward to in the future.
