Book Description

BAH, HUMBUG! (A Romantic Comedy Christmas Novella)

Lexi Anderson is an up-and-coming, Martha Stewart-type TV hostess whose two kids love the Jared Strong adventure novels, which happen to be written by their new neighbor, Kyle Miller.

For the first time in his writing career, Kyle has writer’s block--until he sees the snowman on his lawn and realizes it’s the perfect solution to his plot problem. He digs in and discovers two things: one, his villain’s weapon will fit inside a snowman's body, and two, this particular snowman was supposed to be the backdrop for Lexi’s next show.

From this improbable beginning comes friendship, but can there be a happy ending for a woman who is afraid to get close again and a man who has shadows from his childhood?

Families join together and hearts are healed as this couple goes walking in a winter wonderland.

It's a novella of about 100 pages. The paperback version will be available soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cutest Christmas Story Ever December 23, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Before I get into talking about this book, I just want to say that I absolutely LOVE the cover of this book; I think it's safe to say that I definitely have a cover crush!! This book was an amazing read, and it really got me into the Christmas spirit. Lexi Anderson, the main character, is a divorced mother to two children, Trista, who is 11-years-old, and Stephen, who is 7-years-old. Lexi is also a TV hostess, and is often referred to as Martha Stewart of the new millennium. In the story, Lexi Anderson meets Kyle Miller, an author who her children happen to be obsessed with, who is also their next door neighbor. When they first meet, Lexi and Kyle get off on the wrong foot and it's definitely hilarious as to why they don't get along at first. As the story goes along, you learn a lot more about both of their characters, their struggles, and even how they truly feel about one another. I absolutely loved this book, and I will definitely be reading it again...I was shocked because even though it was a short story, it ended perfectly!! My favorite part of the story was the reason they got off on the wrong foot ended up being the start of something new for them. This book made me laugh, (almost) made me cry, and it really got me into the Christmas spirit, and I loved every minute of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tis the season for a short and sweet romantic novella! January 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Would definitely recommend this book for the holiday season. It's a very easy and quick read, it's clean and just fun! It was very well written, I could imagine what "Christmas Street" really looked like, with the snowmen and lights and decorations.

The characters were realistic and fun, I really enjoyed this book!

The quality of the writing in this book is, overall, very good. I enjoyed the story, but as others have mentioned in reviews, it really does wrap up entirely too quickly. SPOILER ALERT: Seriously, two people meet and a week later they are engaged to be married? That was the only thing that bothered me (in a big way) and why I gave it three stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clean and Festive. November 29, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I love the title and the cover. No one could say that this story wasn't festive enough, that's for sure. I enjoyed this story overall though there were a few things that bothered me. The kids seemed too mature for their age and too perfect. I also had a hard time picturing Kyle Miller. Perhaps it would have helped if I'd known more about what he looked like earlier in the story, but I kept picturing him as an older man. Like a lot older. Maybe it was just my personal problem, but his grumpy and bitter demeanor came across as older with no description to the contrary. When Lexi began to say how attractive he was, I thought, "Thank goodness!" I never really believed it though. For anyone who reads this review, go into the story knowing he's supposed to be about thirty and attractive. You'll enjoy the story more than I did, I'm sure. Still, I would recommend it if you're looking for a bit of clean romance with a strong dose of Christmas spirit.

3.0 out of 5 stars Why the sprint to the finish? February 9, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was enjoying the author's writing style. I was enjoying the characters. I was enjoying the developing relationship between the two main characters. Then, WHAM, I was rushed through to a marriage proposal. With a few more chapters in the middle, I think I could've given a four or even a five star rating.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Christmad Tale October 23, 2012

Very cute unrealistic tale with the romance being modest since there are children involved but still love present between the families.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bah humbug! August 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm sorry--I'm apologizing to the author--I don't like to give bad reviews but i only got about 1/3 of the way through and couldn't finish. This novella was confusing because I got bombarded with characters right away. I didn't see anything particularly funny about this book and I love romantic comedies. I do realize, though, that not everybody has the same sense of humor.

I can't recommended this book.

I must say that I am not overly fond of novellas. I tend to think that they are a bit oversimplified and that they sometimes lack the "meat" that makes a great read. Read more
