The mute deadens sound pretty well, but its not perfect. The mute falls out fairly easy if you don't spend the effort to file the cork and really shove it in there. The mute also adds a lot of back pressure to your playing. For me, this resulted in lowering my range for a while as I was getting used to it. My tone was horrible as well. After a few hours of practice, I had adjusted, but then had to get used to playing without it when I auditioned. It also doesn't deaden the sound well enough for me, but you get what you pay for.

Pros:
-deadens sound very well
-gives you better breath control when you take it out

Cons:
-didn't fit in my case
-semi-loose fit
-takes some getting used to

spend more money if you want a qaulity whisper mute. Overall it works OK, but not as quiet as more expensive ones.
