Though I've owned this triple CD for years now,
I still listen to it all the time! Robert Rich has been
with us, producing ambient-accoustic-electronic music
for a long time now. I have about a dozen of his 20+
recordings, and it is the more organic, nocturnal and
spacey musics that I feel express his true genius and
flare for the genre.

If you are familiar with an early mentor of his, Steve
Roach, I suggest almost any of Robert's work, for we have
in him an example of a former 'student' who has not only
equaled his 'teacher', but a musician who has formed a
unique musical identity, and given us fans of electronica
an enduring legacy - one which proves itself with every
listening. If you like Jeff Greinke, Brian Eno, Robin
Story, Jonn Serrie etc., you can put Robert Rich up there
with the best of them.

Highest Recommendation!
Matt

"Humidity" is a perfect representation of the dark ambient genre with its echoing drones and dark atmospheres. The price may throw some people off, but with 3 hours of music the price is very reasonable at less than $10 per hour of music. A great album, but overshadowed by "Stalker," a collaboration that Rich did with another dark ambient artist, Lustmord, which is considered to be one of the best dark ambient works out there. If you are interested in this genre also try the following:
"Cities in Fog" by Jeff Greinke;
"Stalker" by Robert Rich and Lustmord;
"Heresy" by Lustmord;
"What the Night Leaves Behind" by Matt Borghi & Ben Fleury-Steiner;
most Steve Roach albums.

A great listening experience from start to finish!
Disc 1 takes you across the eerie landscape of humidity from deep within the dark corners and crevices of it's organic environment to the more subtle and mysterious sounds that echo against the dark but beautiful organic backdrop.
Disc 2 takes you into an ether state of consciousness. The music seems to take you beyond this world, into a psychogenic state of mind as you find yourself caught between dream and reality; floating in another dimension of time and space!
Disc 3 takes you into a world of calm and mystery.
Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys ambient music!

I have found Robert Rich's music to internally open the conscious limited mind beyond the abstract universal subconscious mind. The subtle ways and transverse flow moves you through many layers that other artists can't duplicate.
Not saying you can't use this music to relax to or sleep too. You can.
But, with headphones; you will be moved beyond the void of uncertainty and awaken to your higher self soul.
Yours truly,
John Steinbauer
