A great introductory resource on Humility,
By
This review is from: Humility: For the LORD takes delight in his people, he crowns the humble with salvation. Psalm 149:4 (Paperback)
This book was a great resource to help individuals to identify areas of pride in their lives. Drawing heavily from Andrew Murray's classic book, and the Bible, Wagner lays out 5 ways to identify strongholds of pride, and 10 ways to identify progress towards humility. The book is full of examples from the author's own life, and is a relatively quick read (if you don't count all the time you'll spend in prayer and meditation to break those strongholds in your own life).
Overall, this was a great introductory resource for those who are just beginning to break free from the grip of pride in their own lives. I would disagree with the other reviewer who rated this book a 1... I haven't read the other gentleman's book (although I plan to), but I feel you can get a lot out of this book if you want to.

If you're looking for a really good book on humility, this ain't it. A better, more practical, and thorough text is "Humility: True Greatness," by C.J. Mahaney. C. Peter Wagner's book bored me to tears; it was such a huge disappointment. It was written completely from intellect (the flesh), and not out of the spirit because there was nothing of the anointing of God on this text. It couldn't have been more uninspiring. It was such a boring read that most of it is not even memorable. Of what little I can remember, Wagner failed to impart practical application to the reader. Sure he gave personal examples of his own humility, but even that smacked of his arrogance. If you are truly humble, you don't have to broadcast it. True humility doesn't sound a trumpet. Too much of the book was about Wagner, his achievements, and his own humility. More of it should have pointed to Jesus, and how the reader can apply lessons of humility to his own life. This book failed miserably on all points. PLEASE don't squander your time or your money. Buy C.J. Mahaney's book on humility; it will truly be a blessing to you, and it will inspire you to become more humble in your walk with the Lord.

A most necessary resource,
By Aaron Sperry (Payette, ID United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Humility (Hardcover)
This wonderfully written book has now become one of my favorites. Wagner masterfully proves his authority for writing this manual and then explains that true humility is not something that only a few can achieve. It is a choice that we all must make. A must read for anyone serious in their relationship with God!
