Affordable and compact, the Fishfinder 565 utilizes a dual-beam sonar with a 60-degree wide beam for fish location, as well as a precision 20-degree narrow beam for better bottom and structure definition, and reaches a depth of up to 800 feet. While ideal for small spaces, this fishfinder is big in performance, with real-time sonar that instantly captures the action under your boat at up to 40 times per second, and Sonar Echo Enhancement that reveals the smallest details -- even bait when vertical jigging! All the information you need is displayed on an ultra high-resolution, five-inch LCD screen with 640x320 lines, in 12-level grayscale in your choice of Inverse Grayscale, Whiteline, High Contrast Bottom Black, or Structure ID Bottom Presentation. This fishfinder has a high-speed, micro-dynamic transducer for optimum performance that is reliable up to 70 mph, and even includes water temperature and is speed capable. The Fishfinder 565 is easy to control with X-Press Menus that access the most important controls with fewer button presses, and Selective Fish ID+ that shows fish below as solid symbols and around the boat as hollow symbols. This fishfinder features one-touch zoom with 2x, 4x, 6x and 8x zoom levels, and TripLog with distance, elapsed time, and average speed when used with an optional speed sensor. This system also features a selectable large, easy-to-read digital readout with an LED backlight for night fishing, adjustable chart speed, and a memory that retains your settings, as well as alarms for depth, fish, and battery life. The Fishfinder 565 includes the options of fully automatic operation, or manual operation, with upper and lower range controls. As an added convenience, this finder is ultra-compact in size, with an easy-on, easy-off mounting system that allows it to go almost anywhere. The Fishfinder 565 is built tough with fully gasketed and waterproof construction so it even floats, and is assembled in the USA with a manufacturer's one-year warranty.
The Fishfinder 565 runs on 10-20 volts of DC power, providing 250 watts RMS output and 2,000 watts of peak-to-peak output. This unit operates between the 200kHz (20-degrees at -10db) and the 83kHz (60-degrees at -10db) frequencies, and has a target separation of 2.5 inches to reveal close-hanging fish. The Fishfinder 565 comes as a Transom Mount with a tilt-and-swivel quick-disconnect mount system and measures 7.25 x 7 x 4 inches (WxHxD).

I have owned this unit for two years now and use it in a portable case. It gives amazing detail and is easy to read in bright sunlight. The wide beam is very useful for "prospecting" for fish on big flats.

Worked great for two fishing trips then developed a large black spot about the size of a quarter on the screen. Lowrance makes a better product and has better service.

Defective Unit and Lousy Customer Service,
This review is from: Humminbird 565 5-Inch Waterproof Fishfinder (Electronics)
This unit did not work correctly out of the box. It would not graph a thing. The screen was blank, but would give me a digital depth reading. I called Humminbird and they sent me a new transducer. This did not work either. In the meantime my right cursor stopped working. So, in the middle of the 2 week fishing season that I look forward to all year, I sent the whole unit back to them priority mail and they got it in 36 hours. They took 2 days to work on it and then shipped it back FedEX..... I got it 8 days later (12 total days out of service). I opened up the box and tested it. They did not even touch the head. It still had all the old settings, the right cursor still did not work and there were little flecks of salt by the connector that were there when I sent it in. On top of that, they included a USED transducer with it. So, my review would be simple. This unit does not work and their service department is not capable of fixing it.
