The Humminbird 7000301 AS HHGPS Bare Wire GPS/NMEA Connection Cable connects a hand-held GPS unit to your fishing system for easy readability of trackplotting information. By using the cable to connect the fishfinder to your handheld GPS unit, you can gain GPS trackplotting capability on the large display of your Matrix 700 or 900 Series unit. By using this cable to transfer the GPS trackplotting data, you can more readily view this information in an integrated form with your Matrix 700 and 900 Series unit. The kit includes NMEA connection cable, Y cable and detailed instructions.

This cable enabled me to connect my Garmin GPS V handheld to my Humminbird Matrix 27 fishfinder. I used the pfranc [...] connector for the GPS side. I guess the benefit is being able to display the GPS info (including plotting) on the larger screen of the fishfinder.

I'm thinking I'll order another one of these cables and use it to connect my Garmin eTrex Vista GPS to my Matrix 27 (with another plug from [...].

Your GPS will need to have NEMA in/out. Check in the settings section on you GPS.
