Product Description

The Humminbird 788ci HD Combo features a high resolution 640V x 640H 5-Inch color display, Dual Beam PLUS sonar with 500 Watts RMS power output, and 50 channel internal GPS Chartplotting with built-in UniMap. The UniMap covers the contiguous U.S.A. coastline and inland lakes and rivers at 30 meters per pixel resolution. On the coast, this clearly shows features as small as canals, and many coastal navigation lights. Inland, the UniMap features virtually all recreational lakes and rivers, plus hundreds of thousands of small lakes that don’t appear on other charts. In other words, your lake is likely to be there! With the UniMap, you have a chart virtually anywhere you travel in the United States. The unit has Advanced Fishing System capabilities, which include optional WeatherSense Barometer, Wireless Sonar Link, Cannon Link downrigger control, and Interlink for multiple unit use. It also has three programmable preset buttons to recall your favorite views. Features include SD card slot, Freeze Frame, Real Time Sonar window, instant image update, true arch technology, selective Fish ID, echo enhancement, split screen zoom, and wide or narrow cone split screen. The user-friendly technology includes custom digital readouts, large digit view, quick disconnect mounting, triplog, and X-press menu system. The unit has a built-in GPS antenna, SD card slot for increased memory storage, and can store 2,500 waypoints, 50 routes, and up to 50 saved tracks with 20,000 trackpoints each. The package includes a transom mount transducer, installation hardware, and owner-Feets manual. Dimensions: 6.9-Inch W x 7.5-Inch H x 4.5-Inch D. One year parts and labor warranty.

Honestly I wouldn't read into Amazon reviews of fishfinders too much. Instead, do some reading in fishing forums and get real comments and ask questions beforehand. This is a great depthfinder though. I've used it in South Dakota with the Lakemaster chip and used it in Canada with a Navionics Premium chip. Either chip is a GREAT addition to this unit, but Lakemaster wins out in the South Dakota region. Luckily for me, the Navionics Premium North region chip actually includes the lake I fish in Canada, on top of the 5 states also on that chip. The chips are one of the items that makes this unit so great though. Learn how to use the GPS and mapping efficiently and it WILL help you catch more fish. The sonar and color display make the unit night and day difference to anyone used to using a black and white LCD depthfinder. Superbright display visible clearly in any sunlight conditions. Another addition that I'd recommend for the unit is a clear film screen protector. It makes the screen much easier to clean and also reduces how often you'll have to wipe off water spots. The down imaging is great, and will help anyone fishing for tight bottom-hugging fish more clearly tell if they are seeing rocks or actual fish on the bottom. With the color sonar, fish really stand out much clearer and you will use it to FIND fish and catch them, instead of just using it to find the depth like so many other fisherman without that benefit.
This unit also has the ability to link up with other humminbird units through their ethernet cables. This would allow two units on a boat to share sonar and mapping data. A small point to be clear of on this though, that it will not share sonar data with other units that are not down imaging. It will ONLY share sonar data with other DI units.

Just installed this unit and can't wait to try it out. That being said, I really wish people would review the product itself and not the shipping/handling/damage etc. If you end up going another direction that's fine but the rest of us have no interest in your experience throughout the buying process...just what you felt about the product after you resolved your issues... THANK YOU!

Verified Purchase
We waited for a week and finaly recieved our fishfinder, as soon as we took it out of the outer box we could tell that the main box had been opened previously, worn and inside packaging around the fishfinder had been previously ripped! also someone elses return label had been left inside the box from them previously returning the item! also the information disc had been cracked and damaged and could not even be played...We are VERY unhappy with this order! we ordered a NEW item not a used one and this is what we recieved, we are re-ordering, one more time just to see if the next one is used or new, if used, then we will never take a chance on something so expensive with Amazon again...very dissapointed!
