Great fishfinder for the price!,

I don't have the cash or space to store a boat, but there are plenty of rentals around here. When I saw the "Fishin' Buddy" I was really happy. This was exactly what I was looking for. I was afraid that such an inexpensive product would underperform. I was not disappointed! The screen shows great detail, (on the 110) and when fish were marked, many times I got a bite! I was afraid of going cheap on the 110. I love it! After using it twice this year so far, I couldn't imagine fishing without it!

Super easy to use, just turn on. Unit picks out individual fish with its depth and size. Shows bottom structure in detail. Light weight, easy to transport. LCD display fairly clear in the bright sun. Could be easier to tilt up for moving across lake. Over all, functions well for the price.

Great portable unit,

I have used the 120 model on 8 to 10 all day fishing trips so far and have been very happy with it. The setup and operation is simple enough for anyone to figure out, but also has enough different settings and ranges to make it useful just about anywhere. The unit runs on 6 AA batteries and I get about three 10 hour days one one set. Carry an extra set with you because when they die you only get about 1 minutes notice. I have been using mine from a kayak trout fishing in Colorado and the portability is great. The side finder is a great feature and one that I find myself constantly using but, the narrow view(all models are the same)is why it gets a 4 star rating instead of 5.
Overall this is a great fishfinder for a portable unit, and I would highly recommend it if you do not have the option for a permanant mount and a 12 volt system.

Great unit.,
This review is from: Humminbird 140C Fishin' Buddy 3.5-Inch Waterproof Fishfinder (Electronics)
I use the Hummingbird 140c on my canoe and it works great. Portable easy to use and with some basic knowledge and understanding of how fish finders are used greatly increases your chance for success on the water. Today I located a weed line oblivious to the surface of the water that drops off from 3' to 10' loaded with crappie bass and northern pike. I would have never been able to locate that spot without the use of the Hummingbird 140c. It is an asset that I greatly appreciate on my boat. I have used it in torrential downpour of rain with no negative effects from being wet. I use lithium batteries which last a vary long time, well worth the extra cost for the lithium batteries. I also really enjoy the color screen. I have a small portable GPS I use in conjunction with my Hummingbird 140c to mark known areas of interest and mark where I catch fish turning my simple canoe into a sophisticated fishing vessel.

I got this to hang off the back of my little pond pontoon boat. I connect it to the trolling motor battery. It's great. I can find the channel and see fish below me.

Have found fish finder to be user friendly. Easy to read display and easy to attach to boat. Have found setting depth alarm and fish alarm to be very helpful,do not need to be looking at display at all times. Depending on type of boat or dock you may want to invest in next model up for extended transducer depth. Turtles swimming underwater also appear as fish on display.

I bought this fish finder late last year and put batteries in it when I got it so I can play with it a little. Started using it this spring with the same batteries and it works great, used the unit about 4 times all day long and still did not change the batteries yet. This fish finder is great for a small boat "I have a 12 footer". It is very easy to use but you need to take it out of the water when your moving. The bracket that comes with it makes it easy to do that, you can tilt it out of the water or pull it right off the mount (pops off easily) out of the water to place inside the boat. You cannot leave it hanging in the water at speed it will pop off the mount. The mount lets you rotate the unit around very easily and the unit itself is pretty rugged as well. Again for a little boat this is perfect if I had a bigger boat I would opt for a fish finder with a permanent mount.
Notes: Very Portable Easy to use Rugged Good battery life

I took this out while fishing with a friend who had a perminently installed unit.
For the most part it picked up the same info. It's a nice little portable unit with adequate performance. It does not float and the life jacket for it is pricey. Now to get the fish to bite.

Great mobile fish finder with side scan. Use it on my float tube, kayak, rental skiffs and even my boat. Accurate and easy to use.

Easy to put together and use. It does what it says it will do. I'm on 14 hours of use with rechargeable batteries so far and it's working perfectly. I can troll at low speed with it in the water. The C-Clamp is solid. I like the side scan as it pinpoints the area and distance to cast. Finding the fish is now easy... catching them is a different story. Clearly, I'm better at fishing than catching!
