5.0 out of 5 stars So Beautiful, Yet so Hard to Get (in the US)
Five stars does not do this album justice. This is not an album to play as background music. To get its full effect, one needs to just sit quietly, and listen. There are subtle nuances to these songs that one will not hear at low volume or on a cheap stereo, so turn it up a little. 2.0 out of 5 stars Do NOT get this confused with Bliss the Danish/Swedish/African outfit
I bought this in excitement thinking it was another album by the Danish/Swedish/African outfit Bliss with members Alexandra Hamnede:vocals, Tchando:vocals, Marc-George Andersen:keyboards, Steffen Aaskoven:samples & sound design. But it turns out this album is by someone else altogether. I was most disappointed to find an album full of very folky, almost Christian pop...

Five stars does not do this album justice. This is not an album to play as background music. To get its full effect, one needs to just sit quietly, and listen. There are subtle nuances to these songs that one will not hear at low volume or on a cheap stereo, so turn it up a little. Very few musicans today can put silence into their songs, but Bliss has mastered the silence.

The female vocals are truly angelic. After 4 years of Vipasana meditation, the artist's voice as you hear it here just appeared and this album was the first effort. If you look for beauty in music, you must add this to your collection. You will not be disappointed. I have been in tears numerous times listening, and although you will be touched by the first song, for me the album gets even better and after the third time sitting quietly, I was ecstatic. People always like to say that an album is like this one, or this voice is like that one, but refrain from that and just be with this music.

I had to order this from Amazon UK, and now it is finally available here, but because of the price you will not find it in music stores. I wish the artists would realize that this price is going to cause their CD to be copied many times. After you hear it, you will want to share it with everyone you care about.

2.0 out of 5 stars Do NOT get this confused with Bliss the Danish/Swedish/African outfit, August 2, 2007
This review is from: A Hundred Thousand Angels (Audio CD)
I bought this in excitement thinking it was another album by the Danish/Swedish/African outfit Bliss with members Alexandra Hamnede:vocals, Tchando:vocals, Marc-George Andersen:keyboards, Steffen Aaskoven:samples & sound design. But it turns out this album is by someone else altogether. I was most disappointed to find an album full of very folky, almost Christian pop type ballads. I totally appreciate the spiritual content of this album (the lead singer Lucinda Drayton discovered her voice through Vipassana meditation) but I don't see what is so extraordinary about the musical compositions. They are pretty, but certainly not anything amazing (unlike the incredibly haunting compositions of the other Bliss). In fact I found most of the lyrics verging on corny, such as in "I'll Be Waiting" - "I'll be the raindrops when you cry, I'll be the sun when you can't shine..." I love poetry and I cry at the drop of a hat, but even that makes me cringe. The only track that really stood out for me is #7 "Shiv Shakti", an inspiring song that resonated with me about being a woman. As for all the others, frankly I can take or leave them. But then again, this is only my own opinion. Someone else will probably love this.

5.0 out of 5 stars New age at its best, November 8, 2007

This review is from: A Hundred Thousand Angels (Audio CD)
Wonderful spiritual music sung by one of the finest female voices around: Lucinda Drayton. And unlike some singers in this category, Lucinda is a highly accomplished vocalist with great technique and lots of shades and nuances in her singing.

The music and the lyrics are inspired by the duos involvement with Brahma Kumari, and reflects a mature and uplifting vision of humanity and our deeper/higher possiblities.

The songs are well-written and the playing excellent all the way through. Music that opens the heart and let the soul fly free.

Brilliant for healing, relaxation, meditation or just for musical pleasure.

The music, words and wonderful voice are so touching and relaxing. The harmonies and singer's voice are both haunting and soothing and will help one's spirit reconnect to the source of life.

I never paid $34.00 for a CD before this one, but there's not a moment's regret after playing this non-stop the past few days since receiving it from the UK. Inspiring melodies & lyrics warm my heart & soul. And if this was the only way to be able to play 100,000 angels repeatedly, I'm glad to have found it on Amazon. It amazes me how many more international offerings are on Amazon vs. itunes. This CD is soft, varied easy listening with deeply meaningful lyrics for any celebrant of Light. Gentle path for self-comfort, love and healing. Makes you feel glad to be alive.

This band seems to share the name (and uses very nearly the same typefont!) as the Danish band, "bliss". Isn't there supposed to be some kind of music industry authority that helps prevent this kind of confusion? Based on the cover art, you might also easily think they are the same band.

The music, while pretty, is quite different from that of the other Bliss. I think that Amazon ought to do something to distinguish the two bands.
