Tastes so good,
By
This review is from: Hungry For It (Paperback)
HUNGRY FOR IT, Fiona Zedde's fourth solo novel, begins where a Taste of Sin leaves off, the sweltering novel set in Miami where Dez and best friend Rémi used to run wild through scores of women, always in search of a new delicacy. When Dez finally settles down and marries Victoria, it leaves Rémi to comb the balmy city in search of new fun without her running buddy.
And that she does. From tętę-à-tętęs in her popular nightclub to entertaining sexy triplets, Rémi could never deny her decadent sexual appetite - until she finally gets the chance to sample a dish she's been craving her whole life: Claudia, Dez's mother. In all actuality, Rémi's heart has belonged to Claudia since the day she eyed the maternal beautiful outside her school, marveling the enigmatic woman. When it happens one night that the two are left to their own devices after Dez's wedding, they find their attraction palpable but try to fight it. Rémi's reserved because of her friendship with Dez, and Claudia struggles with the age and sexual differences between them. One thing they can't deny, though, is the heat simmering when they touch. The only thing that impedes their passion is the one person that means the most to them. Zedde is one of the black lesbian community's most dependable writers, her vivid storytelling brought to life in her characters. Hungry is no different. It's just the kind of fast-paced, meaty read one needs for the summer. While the novel's side plots move quickly, the main course is Rémi and Claudia, two women discovering that love is dish best served hot.

Dangerous Cravings,
By OOSA Online Book Club "O.O.S.A. Gets It Read!" (World Wide Web, USA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE)
This review is from: Hungry For It (Paperback)
"Hungry For It" finds Remi Bouchard at the wedding of her best friend Dez (A Taste of Sin). Love and happiness is in the air. But something else is in the air. Could it be lust? A forbidden lust. A lust that involves one of her best friend's parents...Dez's mother. Should she or shouldn't she?
Into this already complex and potentially explosive situation, Fiona Zedde weaves in some suspense in the form of someone wanting to destroy Remi's successful business and a haunting past. Zedde's story of Remi, both her characters and her work, is engaging. Masterfully written, this strong story gives us characters for which to care and root, allowing them to create emotions to enhance the plot. After reading "A Taste of Sin" I was intrigued by Remi and had hoped that the author would devote a book to her, so I was very pleased to learn that this novel did. And I am pleased with its outcome. Once again, Fiona Zedde has presented readers with vivid imagery, like whoa sex, and a solid plot that will keep readers turning pages. She continues to raise the bar with the arrival of each new book. Reviewed by: Toni

This book was wonderful. I love the way Ms. Zedde writes. Anyone who reads my reviews know that I'm usually disappointed by black lesbian books but Fiona Zedde delivers. I recommend to anyone, this book was wonderful.

Hot and engaging novel about overcoming obstacles to love and happiness,
By
This review is from: Hungry For It (Paperback)
Rémi Bouchard is a self-assured, attractive, intelligent African-American young woman who owns and operates Gillespie's, the most popular jazz/supper club in the trendy South Beach section of Miami. But Rémi's friends know her as a sexy, aggressive dyke, a regular at a local private club catering to lesbian S&M devotees, as well as a woman never to miss a chance for such an encounter, even keeping a fully-equipped "playroom" off her office at Gillespie's.
At the wedding of her best friend, Dez, Rémi makes a decision to try to form a relationship with an older woman to whom she has been attracted for many years, but has been hesitant to approach. The problem is that Claudia is not just significantly older, but Rémi has no basis for concluding she might be interested in a lesbian relationship, or is attracted to Rémi in any way. Then there is the fact that Claudia is Dez's mother, who practically raised Rémi after her mother abandoned her in Miami to return to her rich husband, who would not accept Rémi's sexuality. At the same time, Rémi must deal with an unscrupulous rival club owner, who will go to any lengths to take over Gillespie's. And, last but not least, Rémi gets an unexpected visit from her younger sister, Yvette, who tries to persuade Rémi to visit and reconcile with their mother. A very well-written, engaging erotic novel, with outstanding character development, enabling the reader to identify with each character's motivations and agenda. Much recommended five stars out of five.

Steamy And Intoxicating!,
This review is from: Hungry For It (Paperback)
Rémi Bouchard is the owner of the hottest restaurant and jazz club in South Beach. Rémi's wealth and notoriety allows her to indulge in no strings attached flings. But these escapades are starting to wear thin. When Rémi goes to her best friend's wedding, she finds the perfect woman. The problem is that this woman is supposed to be off limits. Rémi ponders the situation and decides to take a leap of faith and go for it. But pursuing this woman could lead Rémi down a path of seduction that could prove to be costly in the end.
Hungry For It is a steamy and intoxicating novel by Fiona Zedde. Zedde gives readers a bird's-eye view of the South Beach club scene. The character development in this story was wonderful. You will see Rémi transform from having frivolous one-night stands to wanting to be in a committed relationship. You will also feel the emotional struggle that Rémi goes through as she exposes her heart to a potentially risky relationship. There is also some family drama thrown into the mix that makes this a well-rounded novel. Hungry For It is sexy and inviting. Fiona Zedde once again turns up the heat. At first I was worried about this book because I didn't remember the characters from A Taste Of Sin. I'm SOOOOO glad I stuck with it because it gets very good just before the middle of the book and it continues all the way through. Now I remember why Fiona Zedde is one of my favorite authors!

After reading "A Taste of Sin" I was very eager to hear more about Remi Bouchard. Needless to say I was thoroughly satisfied by the author's tale of her troublesome childhood and her long time infatuation with her best friend's mother. Remi intensely goes after a relationship with this older woman ignoring the lines of friendship in search for her own well deserved happiness.

After reading the previous novels featureing Dez, Remi and their friends, this one wraps up about Remi past that was hinted at before. It was a strong read to see what shapes Remi as an adult. With this character you sense just what can be in all of us. And also shows how much love is to be had if one just goes for it. And her love and growth with Dez's mom is truly sensual and erotic. This is my most treasured book. Read it over every few months. Just when you think it oever Remi is caught in intregiue again. WOW.And its adult erotic with no restrictions. Gives hope for us lonley dykes still looking for love.

I read this book in less than a day. Partly I was interested in the storyline which involved characters from her previous book, Taste of Sin, which I liked but didn't love. Her writing is better in this book. More character development and a deeper focus on what is happening with the main characters. Still too much gratuitous sex for my taste; I just don't think it's necessary to make the novel both engaging and HOT. The author is very talented and I look forward to her development in future books.
