Book Description

What do hungry monsters eat? It all depends on where they are. In this laugh-out-loud, colorful pop-up board book, monsters under the bed eat things like red underwear, those in the bathroom enjoy bath soap and yellow duckies, and attic monsters just love old books and umbrellas. Kids will have a ball reading the silly rhymes and opening the monsters’ mouth to find a surprise pop-up of what’s inside. What’s more, Hungry Monsters also focuses on teaching children the early learning skill of recognizing colors.

This adorable fun book is the perfect follow up to Party Animals (ISBN

0794412130). Kids will have a ball reading the silly rhymes and opening the monsters’ mouths to find out what’s inside while learning the early skill of color recognition.

• Teaches the early learning skill of color recognition!

• Fun, interactive pop-up flaps on every spread!

• Adorable illustrations!

5.0 out of 5 stars vibrant, January 6, 2009

This book is beautifully illustrated, I love the bright colors. There are more words than the earlier children's books which I also like because my daughter is nearing two and I like being able to read longer stories to her. All around this is a great addition to our library :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Pop-Up Book!, November 9, 2009

This is a great book for little ones! My son loves opening up the monster's mouth to discover what's inside. Obviously after alot of use, pieces will wear and require some mending with tape but its definately worth it because it keeps him engaged and inteacting with the story. Definately worth the money!

3.0 out of 5 stars Has it's problems, February 27, 2010

This review is from: Hungry Monsters: A Pop-Up Book of Colors (Hardcover)
With the exception of the last page this book isn't bad. Although the text is a bit lengthy for a pop up book it is manageable. The images are vibrant and it seems relatively durable. I had to actually hold the book aside until I could edit the text of the last page, however. On each page the monsters are eating things from the room like soap and underwear. The last monster is in the kitchen and the narrator says how disgusted she is about the monster eating veggies. Broccoli (one of the veggies being consumed) is a favorite of my daughter, but I know how fickle toddlers can be. Considering how so many kids wrestle with nutrition to begin with it seems like a poor idea to demonize vegetable consumption. I really am not one of those people who wants a kill joy healthy message to everything. I just don't see the point here.
