This book is beautifully illustrated, I love the bright colors. There are more words than the earlier children's books which I also like because my daughter is nearing two and I like being able to read longer stories to her. All around this is a great addition to our library :)

This is a great book for little ones! My son loves opening up the monster's mouth to discover what's inside. Obviously after alot of use, pieces will wear and require some mending with tape but its definately worth it because it keeps him engaged and inteacting with the story. Definately worth the money!

With the exception of the last page this book isn't bad. Although the text is a bit lengthy for a pop up book it is manageable. The images are vibrant and it seems relatively durable. I had to actually hold the book aside until I could edit the text of the last page, however. On each page the monsters are eating things from the room like soap and underwear. The last monster is in the kitchen and the narrator says how disgusted she is about the monster eating veggies. Broccoli (one of the veggies being consumed) is a favorite of my daughter, but I know how fickle toddlers can be. Considering how so many kids wrestle with nutrition to begin with it seems like a poor idea to demonize vegetable consumption. I really am not one of those people who wants a kill joy healthy message to everything. I just don't see the point here.

I was very disappointed with the actual pop ups. I could have taped in some pop ups and had about the same effect. There is no craftsmanship or showmanship to it whatsoever. Each pop up is precisely the same format and looks virtually identical to all the rest.Very disappointed.

This is a great book, my almost 3 year old loves lifting the flaps to see what the monsters have been eating in each room. My son loves the idea of monsters, I find it very fun to play with him, we go all around the house looking for our imaginary monsters and hiding from them - kids' imaginations are amazing!! Don't be afraid of this book, it is a fun book that my son absolutely loves to read after we've chased all the monsters out of his room before bed at night. As far as the issue of the vegetables, it's just a book!! Maybe in the world of monsters they don't eat vegetables!!! Just understand this is a book that plays with a child's imagination, it's wonderful!!

Hungry Monsters is a great book and one of my 4 year old daughter's favorites! She requests this book often because of the brightly colored pages with silly, rhyming words. The faster I read the words to her the more fun it becomes. She then lifts the flaps to giggle at what the monsters are eating. It's funny to her that a monster would want to eat soap, red underwear, or brussel sprouts. Pages are made of strong material and our pop-up flaps have not torn with a lot of use. This book also helped my little girl see monsters as funny- not scarey. I am buying more copies of this book to give as gifts.

My five year old loves this book! It has nice colorful picutres with pop-ups. It's a really silly book that kids enjoy. It does rhyme and I catch my son repeating the story. I have to read it to him every night at bedtime.

My daughter loves the story and the bright, vibrant illustrations. The pop-up pieces are a bit delicate so be ready with the masking tape once the book has been used a few times, but overall it's a fun book to share with baby before bedtime.

here is what I think about this book....Yes,It is colorful ,but do not get it if your child does not know about monsters. My son is too young to know what they are anyway, for him it is just something to look at and to chew on, but I can see an older baby who didnt know about monsters freacking out of the thought that there might be monsters under the bed,in the closet,in the bathroom, around the house! so if you have no problem will your child imagining and being afraid of monsters, don't get the book, save yourself some trouble. Another thing what bothers me about this book more than anything is : a monster in the kitchen who eats GREEN VEGETABLES like green beans, broccoli, sprouts, and the rhyme says that those are disgusting and not real food. Those are very good and healthy vegetables for kids to eat and it is hard enough to make kids eat those period! and here this book suggest that those are disgusting vegetables....terrible!
