About the Author

Katie Lane's interest in romance was sparked in high school in the backseat of a '65 Mustang-okay, so maybe it wasn't romance as much as raging teenage hormones. Still, coupled with a wild imagination, those make-out sessions inspired many a steamy storyline along with a strong belief that true love does prevail. Katie lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with the owner of that Mustang and would love to hear from her readers.

More About the Author

Katie Lane's love for writing started in fifth grade when her teacher had her write a short story using the point of view of an inanimate object. Katie chose a large skirt that was owned by a skinny woman--which, of course, resulted in some underwear showing. When the entire class laughed at her tale, Katie was hooked. She spent the rest of her childhood writing down her humorous stories in spiral notebooks. But then came high school, and her writing took a backseat to hormones and boys--or one particular boy. It wasn't until after she was married and her two exceptional daughters were grown that she returned to writing and, eventually, achieved her dream of becoming a published author.

Katie Lane is the USA Today bestselling author of the Deep in the Heart of Texas and Hunk for the Holiday series. Katie lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and when she isn't writing, enjoys reading, going to the gym, golfing, traveling, or just snuggling next to her high school sweetheart and cairn terrier Roo. Katie loves to hear from her readers and can be found at, Twitter @ktlane3, and

Great story with interesting characters.

While there were parts that did seem a little far-fetched, overall I thought this was a great story.

When I first read the premise behind this book I was a bit hesitant. I wasn't sure how this was going to work but at the time I was craving contemporaries and I've always enjoyed Romeo and Juliet esque stories. Unfortunately this book just did not work for me or rather it just seemed a bit over the top. I felt as if this book was trying too hard and it just left me with a blah feeling.

Cassie McPherson is always putting her work before everything. She works hard at her family construction business and usually doesn't have time to date or have fun. Because of this she never has time to meet anyone, so when she has to attend business functions or events she enlists in a local escort service. She never crosses the line with the guys hired and she has never even wanted to, but when James walks in all bets are off. Immediately Cassie finds herself attracted to the sexy stranger and is finding it very difficult to keep her hands to herself. Maybe just this one time she can let loose and have fun.

James Sutton has no idea what he's in for when he sets eyes of Cassie. He's showed up for a supposed meeting with Al McPherson and now he's playing along and acting as Cassie's male escort. Just one look at the sexy Cassie and he couldn't help himself. He knows it's wrong to deceive her and he should tell her the truth but figures it can wait.

The chemistry between these two is electric and I liked watching them together, I just felt like some of the things that happen with them are a bit contrived. I would have liked to have seen them together a bit more. The relationship felt a bit rushed and I just didn't really feel like they really fell in love with one another. Also, it was really hard for me to buy into the fact that Cassie is hiring male escorts for dates.

Cassie is a strong, powerful, and self-sufficient career woman. She is running the family construction business while simultaneously fighting off the competition from stealing their work. So why is it that the only date she can get is one she pays an escort service for? Enter James her latest "escort" who is the living, breathing embodiment of male perfection. Cassie has already decided that regardless of the cost to her heart or bank account she has to get to know this man as intimately as possible.

Over the course of mere days James and Cassie exchange a lot of everything two consenting adults are legally allows. Yet with all this communication and sharing one critical piece of information is missing - what exactly is the last name of the man Cassie has fallen so completely in love with? Cassie fights as much for her family as she does with them but one thing is clear, the business is everything to them. So when the one devastating secret James is holding becomes a living, breathing fact what is Cassie going to do?

Katie Lane is an author who has the ability to create romantic magic with her words. Ms Lane bring characters to life that readers love to bring into their life.

Cassie McPherson works for her family's construction business. She longs to be an architect but is basically a glorified accountant because she is doing what she believes her father (the head of the company) wants. At the beginning of the book Cassie is in need of a date for a family/company party. She hires an escort - something she periodically does - not for sex, just when she needs to go to a social gathering for work. The escorts are usually college kids looking for extra cash. When a handsome man shows up at the appointed pick up time, Cassie automatically assumes that he is her paid date. The reader is aware almost immediately that "James" is actually James Sutton - one of her family's top competitors. At first James keeps quiet about the fact that he's not her intended date because he is physically attracted to her. He later keeps quiet because he starts to fall for her and is worried that she'll be mad that he didn't tell her sooner. James isn't really aware, until late in the story, how Cassie's family views James Sutton. When he finds out, he realizes that this is yet another thing that Cassie might hold against him. There is a little miscommunication at the end between the two lovers but I found this to be a fun, sexy romance between two great characters. James turned out to be a softer and more romantic character than I had thought he would be from the opening of the book. And I thought the thing at the end with the Christmas trees and the neighbor's help to be very romantic and sweet.

I liked the side story with Cassie's brother Rory and her friend Amy. I thought there were a few "A[...]" moments with their romance & was happy that it resolved itself by the end of the book. I look forward to more stories about Cassie's brothers.

First...the cover. The hunk it the picture is very cute but if you look at his left hand you see a tan were a ring was.(LOL)They should have just got a NO hand SHOT. OK, now to the book; Cassie is the Vice President in her family's construction business. She has a tough as nails attitude because of her brothers and father. No time to date she pays for an escort to take her to the company's Christmas party. In walks James Sutton, she's thinking he is the paid escort. Turns out to be the family's biggest competitor. He plays along because he ends up liking her. The story was ok. Change the title and the guy on the cover or hide that ring finger, and have her family a little more relaxed. It would have been a great story. The whole family is tough as nails and over the top protective.
