4.0 out of 5 stars Silly & Sexy
OK, this isn't "Dorothy Parker" clever, but it is fun, light hearted (mostly) and sexy enough to be well worth watching. It takes a rather too obvious poke at the North American obsession with looks, teaches us that getting what we ask for isn't always good and gives us an opportunity to watch handsome men and beautiful women at play. No calories and not...

2.0 out of 5 stars Bad movie , great body
Well, the 1980's had its share of bad films, and this one is no exception. The plot is as simplistic as it gets; a nerd wants to have the perfect body so he can be happy, only to discover there is a price to pay. ( Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it, true happiness comes from within, take your pick!) The acting is terrible, but let's be honest girls we...

( Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it, true happiness comes from within, take your pick!) The acting is terrible, but let's be honest girls we are not gonna watch a movie called "Hunk" for the acting or the dialogue. We want to look at a hot body and John Allen Nelson definitely has that. Unfortunately, the scenes with Hunk showing off his gorgeous muscular bod are few & far between. Hunk is harmless fun, but if you want to drool over a beautiful body, you'll have alot of fast forwarding to do.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sinfully Good, March 21, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hunk (DVD)
I believe this is the last movie appearance by the late, great James CoCo who plays Satan in this little 80's jewell with devilish glee. Certainly he gives it a spin that Little Nicky nor his dad could conjure. He makes the movie worth watching and he certainly had the biggest slice of the costume budget. Surprisingly, John Allen Nelson,(currently on 24) one of the endless supply of Soap Hunks seemingly available on demand at any given time in any given decade, gives a meaty (couldn't resist it) performance that is full of charm and wit. Steve Levitt acquits himself perfectly as the pre- and post- transformation nerd. Even CoCo had to watch out for the scene stealing vamping of Deborah Shelton (Body Double) as the assistant from Hell (literally). Of course watch for Robert Morse in a drier than the Sahara perf. And last but not least serve plenty of savory Avery Doritos at your Celebration Of The California Hunk Lifestyle Party when you screen it (sorry, never been much of a Schreiber describer). Hope this isn't too 'insider' for you. It's an enjoyable little romp that did good box office in it's time and has aged pretty well, better than I at least!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot Body!, January 20, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Hunk [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I really liked this movie. I think the guy has a sexy body. I saw it with my mom and sister and in the beginning of the movie, they showed a close up of his body in the shower. My mom's mouth dropped open and she said she liked how the camera focused on that. Me and my sister (she is 12) love Hunk's wide muscular back, six pack abs and big broad chest with golden brown nipples that were always hard! I liked the way all the girls looked at his body. They should have had more parts in the movie where women kissed his hot body.

2.0 out of 5 stars Really bad acting, August 23, 2011
This review is from: Hunk (DVD)
I usually like older 80s romantic comedies, but Hunk just takes 80s corniness to a new level. The acting is atrociously bad, and I say that as someone who typically forgives weak acting. The basic plot is fine - a guy sells soul to the devil in order to become a hunk - but the plot twists just don't make sense. Why does the devil keep going back in time to create more evil? Is he actually trying to change the past? A TV host nearly drives a jeep in reverse off a pier and doesn't seem capable of braking during the minute or so it's going on? Isn't it a bit all too convenient that the Devil's assistant falls in love with the main character? On top of all that, the guy's name is Hunk! I'd definitely recommend avoiding this movie.

This movie is super corny and low budget, but I used to watch it such a long time ago, that I really only watch it for nostalgia, not quality.

2.0 out of 5 stars This is why the 1980s was the worst decade for movies, May 25, 2008
By
This review is from: Hunk (DVD)
If there was ever a film that could represent the self-centered yuppydom and "me" generation that was the 1980s, this film would win hands down. The plot is simple: an average looking guy nearly sells his soul to the devil for a summer as a hunk. Only in the end when he nearly loses his soul does he realize what the important things in life are.
The acting was horrible and the director must have been on something when the final cut was made. It had the potential to be a cute comedy but instead turns into an eye-roller. The only saving grace is John Allen Nelson who is extremely handsome in this movie. That said, there's nothing in this movie that really is anything original.
On a side note, I think it's interesting how Hunk was portrayed as the ideal man. You have to admit that in today's society, Hunk Golden would only be attractive to men in the gay community. I seriously doubt that Nelson (who by the way has aged well) would be sought after by many straight women.

3.0 out of 5 stars Silly Fun Humor......, April 5, 2000
This review is from: Hunk [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Well, this was not the best of comedies, but still a very funny movie, that I am sure not too many people own. I have not purchased it yet, but plan on doing so now that I know it is for sale!
