Katherine has done it again with this collection of songs and chants from all ove the world. Each selection is catchy and memorable, and there is something new to learn as well. From "Mashed Potatoes" to "Keemo Kyemo" to "Abiyoyo", Katherine has brought together a myriad of styules and purposes that would make a marvelous gift for children and adults alike.

It's possible I mis-read the product description, but I was eagerly anticipating some authentic musical performances from around the world. Since this is a CD for children, I expected to hear choruses of African children singing or saying their chants, perhaps accompanied by regional percussion instruments. The accomplishment of this CD is far more modest than that. The chants and songs are performed by Katherine Dines, who--with a polished mid-western accent--is clearly not African; and the musical accompaniment is for the most part pretty uninteresting (e.g., guitar chords, clapping). Most frustrating for me and my kids was the fact that only some of the chants and songs are translated into English in the printed lyrics. It's somewhat interesting to listen to these chants for their sound quality alone, but what we'd really like is to know what they are saying!!

I believe that word play and sounds are important for youngsters mental development so purchased this CD which is great at playing with words. My son enjoys saying/singing the words on this CD. He really enjoys "I'm going on a Huka Lau" and trying to say "Flea Fly Flow Mosquito" several times fast. Katherine Dines' melodious voice and clear pronunciation comes through strongly on this CD.

My 13 month old is absolutely mesmerized by the music on this CD! All I have to do is put the CD on in his room, and he will sit through the entire thing while playing quietly and staring up at the CD player. It's incredible! AND, I've noticed him trying to make the sounds and "singing along". I cannot tell you how much I love this CD! The songs are contagious!! Watch out or you'll end up singing them all day. Get this CD!

This CD is just plain FUN. The styles are so diverse and the collection is fantastic. The kids really enjoy this one.
