Product Description

Hunt for 901 is the debut novel by gourmet chef and automotive writer Kevin Gosselin. Its protagonist, Faston Hanks, is a Connecticut innkeeper, car historian, and automotive archeologist known for his ability to find lost automotive treasures: an automotive Indiana Jones. He is also a gourmand who won t let an adventure stand in the way of a good meal. When Austrian musician, Heidi Ruff, arrives at his inn, begging Faston to help her find her father, his answer is simple, I don t find people. You might this time, replies the Austrian. In 1963, Porsche s 901 prototype went missing after its debut at a German auto show. My father was the one who lost it. Thus begins Faston s hunt for the Holy Grail of Porsches, searching all over Europe for clues that will lead them to the missing 901 prototype. As Faston and his geriatric sidekick, Charles Ivory, close in on the long-lost Porsche and Heidi s mysterious father, they discover they are not alone in trying to find this most famous of Porsches. Who will be the first to find it?

4.0 out of 5 stars Dead Ends, Good Eats and Killer Accountants!, August 19, 2008
I dug this book! How many times have you heard your dad, uncle or brother say, "I wish I had that car today"? Well that's the same spirit of "The Hunt" except the reasons to find the car go deeper then a fantasy. And the journey to find it is filled with dead ends, good eats and killer accountants!

4.0 out of 5 stars You don't have to be a car buff..., August 1, 2008
By Bucky Goldstein (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
...to have a blast following along with Faston Hanks and his sidekick Charles as they hunt down a long missing Porsche prototype. But be warned - this book will make you want to own a sports car. The trek starts in the northeast and winds up in southern Italy - with multiple European destinations in between. There's a lot of food, booze, a nemesis with the world's greatest name, and many, many exotic cars along the way. It's a quick read - perfect for the dog days of late summer. But seriously...after reading this, climbing into an SUV (or a Jaguar/Taurus for that matter) is painful!

1.0 out of 5 stars A total disappointment, December 23, 2008
I purchased this book with great anticipation, being a long time 911 fan. The book is however a total disappointment. Terrible narrative, poorly written, poorly edited, full of errors (e.g., than for then and vice versa) and full of clichés. Not recommended.
