A wild ride...,
By Rochelle (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Hunted (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the first book by Alan Jacobson I have read - it was a good book and I am looking forward to reading his first book.THE HUNTED begins with Lauren Chambers upset about her husband's late return from a weekend with his frat buddies. She goes to the police after 48 hours only to find that they have other more high profile cases to focus in on. She is pursuaded to go to a Neighborhood Watch meeting to rally the community to help her. During the meeting she meets a private detective who volunteers to help her. Meanwhile, her husband turns up on the East coast - shot in the leg and he has amnesia. He cannot remember a thing about his past...and the FBI is looking for him. This provides the foundation for a suspenseful book that reads like a roller coaster - never knowing what is next. It twists and turns just when you think you know what is going on. The only reason I gave it four out of five stars is that there are a couple of story items that didn't seem possible. A great book nonetheless - I would recommend it to others.

The Hunted,

This review is from: The Hunted (Hardcover)
See story summary above.I have to agree that this is definitely a page turner. The cat and mouse thrills are here, as is the suspense. When I started reading the book I was thinking of comparing it to Baldacci. The further I got into it the more I decided I was wrong. Though the action is exciting, it's a little far fetched. Some of the scenes actually made me stop reading and say to myself, "Yea, right". The entertainment value is there if you can swallow some of the action scenes. I think with each novel, Alan Jacobson's writing improves. Recommended.

The Hunted is a definite read!,
By Robert S. Grossman (Encino, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Hunted (Hardcover)
I thought Jacobson's first book False Accusations was a powerful read, with its engaging characters and major twists. But he topped it with The Hunted, which had me wondering what was going to happen till the very last page. The details and research are impresive! I felt like I had an inside tour of several seceret goverment agencies. Can't wait till Jacobson's next book comes out. In the meantime, The Hunted is a definite read!

A chilling thriller,
This review is from: The Hunted (Hardcover)
Anthony Scarponi is an internationally renowned assassin with an organization that makes him virtually untouchable by law enforcement officials. In order to obtain the information needed to put Scarponi away for life, FBI agent Harper Payne goes undercover and joins the assassin's team. Over time, he becomes one of his most trusted employees. Eventually, Harper collects enough evidence so that Scarponi should receive a life sentence.Dr. Lauren Chambers, an agoraphobic psychologist has an anxiety attack when her beloved husband Michael fails to return home from a skiing trip. Private detective Nick Bradley helps Lauren track down Michael, who apparently is actually Harper. As Michael and Lauren go to extraordinary lengths to meet up and protect one another, government agents hinder their progress. Alan Jacobson follows up his exciting best-selling FALSE ACCUSATIONS with the chilling thriller, THE HUNTED, a novel that keeps readers' attention all through the long cold night. Although vulnerable, Lauren shows remarkable inner strength as she goes the extra kilometer to learn just what kind of person she married. The fast-paced story line reads like a Jack Higgins thriller, but with a clearly Jacobson spin on the plot. This complex novel is worth the hardcover price. Harriet Klausner

Hunted - Excellent Second Novel,
By
This review is from: The Hunted (Hardcover)
Alan Jacobson writes in an engaging fashion that makes you not want to put the book down. It is clever how he mentions Philip Madison from False Accusation in the beginning of Hunted. It is a page turner, with an excellent unexpected ending.

sUSPENSE IN SLOW MOTION,

This review is from: The Hunted (Mass Market Paperback)
The book is filled with twists and turns as Dr. Lauren Chambers, a professional therapist, goes in search of her husband, Michael, who fails to return home from a skiing trip. That is just the first step into a world of mystery, suspense and the unknown. "Hunted" is filled with excitement and the unexpected but at a slower pace than anticipated. There were parts that seemed to drag on like a soap opera in an attempt to prolong the story. Overall, it was still a book worth reading, although it lacked the punch and pace of Jacobson's "False Accusations."

as a long time mystery reader I find Mr. Jacobsons' books two of the best I have read in a long time. I knew he had some strange twists in The Hunted and I was determined to see if I could spot them---sure enough he slipped some by me---there is so much action and the plot carries you forward, you just can't stop reading--the characters are not super heros, but everyday people caught up in strange but believable happenings. When I finished the book I thought what a great movie this would make.
