Praise for Jerry Kennealy:

"A perfectly enjoyable, action-filled summer read."-- Publishers Weekly, for The Conductor

"A gleeful cat-and-mouse game. Bullets fly, bombs explode, sex is plentiful, double-crosses abound, and there's enough insider cop jargon to satisfy any procedural fan."-- San Francisco Sunday Chronicle Examiner, for The Conductor

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Illegal Russian immigrant Janna Drovana is by no means a typical 13-year-old. Lured to America with promises of a better life by her cousin Yuri Stoylar, the recently orphaned teen must abruptly come to terms with the ugly side of San Francisco. Sold into prostitution by Stoylar, Janna witnesses the merciless murder of her madam and two teen prostitutes by an IRA thug with a bad case of rosacea. Escaping with a few thousand dollars (stolen from the local diner), as well as the high-powered notebook computer of a pedophile banker with political aspirationsAa theft that unwittingly embroils her in an international arms conspiracyAJenna flees to her one place of comfort: Golden Gate Park. Hunted by Stoylar, the SFPD, an Australian assassin, the red-nosed killer and a Swiss intelligence agent, the youngster spends her days on the lam riding the merry-go-round and visiting the aquarium. Jennna's elusiveness at times seems a stretch, but Kennealy's (The Suspect) action never lets up, and this proves to be the book's saving grace. (July)

More About the Author

I'm a native San Franciscan - a rare breed nowadays; a former policeman, fireman, licensed private investigator for more than twenty years, and past Vice President of the Private Eye Writers of America.
Married to Shirley, the love of my life, also a San Francisco native, we have two sons: Frank and Steve, and a grandson, Jake.
When I was struggling to get my first mansucript finished, a friendly, established author encourged me, saying that my background should be helpful, and then he gave me this piece of advice: "Write what you know, and fake the rest."
I've been writing ever since. My first books were all first person private eye adventures, including ten in the Nick Polo series, and most of the action took place in San Francisco.
The following eight thrillers moved around from London, to Madrid, Russia, etc., but usually had a scene or two in San Francisco (write what you know).
Now I'm back in the city with a new series, stating with JIGSAW, featureing an offbeat hero, Mr. Carroll Quint, and entertainment editor for the San Francisco Bulletin.
I'm presently working on STILL SHOT, the second in the Carroll Quint series.
Thanks for reading about me here, and I hope you enjoy my novels.

This review is from: The Hunted (Paperback)
This is an exciting and thrilling book. Althought there is some things in here that are not siutable for young readers. There is a lot of vulger language, which is used in a sexually way in some cases. Besides all of the language andd the violence, there is a very good story to go along with it.

Janna Drovana, a little girl about 13 years old, is a very smart and intelligent girl. Her and her mother decice to move away from Russia, and move to the America's, were her cousin Yuri Stolar will help support her and her mother. her mother and her had to be smuggled in here by ship, and on the way, her mother had become deathly ill. Her mother eventually passed away, and her cousin started to treat her like an animal.

Shortly thereafter, Janna was sold by her cousin to a madam, for six thousand dollars. Janna was not comfortable with the idea at all. Shortly after being there, the madam had already set Janna up with one of her clients, but nothing went as it was planned. the client was very upset by everything, and was very furious, and decided that it was time for him to go. Little did he know, but he was leaving behind a very important piece of property, which would later turn Janna into a running fugitive.

The client had a hitman hired to go back and get the small computer, and when he showed up, the result was a deadly one. The hitman had killed the madam and two of the girls that she was selling out to her clients. But, he killed everryone in the house, but Janna. She had the little computer in her pocket, along with loads of money that she had stolen from the dead madam.

Eventually, the little girl had called in and said that she had a visual picture of the murderer. She was then being tracked down by both the cops, and the murderer. janna didn't know that she would be in any danger, till te day came when everyone of the people that were looking for her, actually found her. It was a very hectic cituation, and the girl ended up giving the computer to yhe authorities, and all the people that were involved in the murder of the madam and the little girls, was murdered by a cop, who was on the case the entire time, and knew everything that was going on. They put Janna under the care of the authorities for seveal months, until the day came that she was adopted by the officdr that was on her case.
