Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
First off I am always looking for games I can play with my fiance. We've been through diablo, d2, starcraft, guild wars, gears series - so having a rpg that offers LAN support was a big purchasing factor. And it really delivers. Hooking up additional players is very easy, stable connection and great speed. The game is well designed, on the highest video settings it is a highly detailed world. Challenging, plus I love how it allows for team work... he keeps monsters off of me while I snipe at far off archers. It's a wonderful game for a couple or even friends looking for a co-op. It reminds me of a darker version of oblivion, which was exactly what I was hoping for. Ok it doesn't have the interaction with npc's like oblivion or dragon age would offer. But the fact that it brings interaction between co-op players is what makes it special. This is not meant for a lone player. You will have max fun by including someone else real. And also being able to play E'lara rather then stuck with playing Dom in regards to gears is a really big perk for me as a girl gamer. To summize, it's a fun game meant to be shared with friends, each person does need a copy of the game in order to play but no serial numbers to deal with. If you buy this game and have a friend to play with, you won't be dissappointed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great potential but falls short. June 5, 2011

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Like my title states, this game has great potential but it falls short in many ways, let me let you know why.
1. The lack of diversity of weapons. You only have a choice between a bow and a sword/axe, and what makes it worse is that there really are no differences between the types of bows or swords you can get. For example, the bows that are found either have low damage and fast reload rate, or high damage and slow reload rate. And of course somewhere in between. And once you replace your old bow, you can't get it back after you leave the area (there's no inventory). Imagine if you get the choice between a whole range of weapons like lances, broadswords, medieval guns..etc it would make the game so much more exciting, and with more diverse animation (which I'll go into next)
2. The lack of diverse animation doesn't bother me too much, but I still feel it's lacking in that department. For one, you can only run, no walking allowed, unless you have your right mouse button held down (which is for aiming and using your shield). Which is kind of ridiculous because at certain times the characters walk on the field (say when you just finished a cutscene, and the characters are talking and you move your character forward, they are walking until they finish their line. I mean, the animation is there, I don't understand why they didn't implement it in the controls. As for attacking with your sword, there's only about 3 animations, which isn't a big deal if they implemented more weapons, which of course would have different attack animations. It just get kind of old watching the same attack animation all the time...even the Wargar have the same sword attack animation as your character. It just feels like you don't get much freedom in the game.

3.0 out of 5 stars A fun but flawed 3rd person co-op fantasy action game December 18, 2012
Platform for Display:PC|Verified Purchase
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Developed by inXile Entertainment and published in May of 2011 by Bethesda Softworks, "Hunted: The Demon's Forge" is a third person single player or co-op action game. Set in a gritty and brutal fantasy world, the story follows two mercenaries (Caddoc, a human male warrior and E'lara, a female elven archer) as they investigate the disappearances of townsfolk after sinister creatures begin to emerge from the underground. Armed with a magic artifact called the Deathstone which allows the wielder insight into the lives of the deceased, Caddoc and E'lara set out to the nearby town of Dyfed in search of its missing inhabitants. Here are my thoughts on Hunted: The Demon's Forge;

Pros

+ Grim, dark and adult fantasy setting.

+ Hidden areas are fun to discover and explore.

+ Excellently detailed character and creature models.

+ Humorous and witty banter between Caddoc, E'lara and the NPCs.

+ Spell and action particle effects are clean and look impressive.

+ Rez vials are a convenient way to revive companions. Much easier than kneeling over them for a set amount of time while getting beat on by enemies.

+ Dungeons have dark and eerie feel to them.

+ Blood splatter from combat is a nice touch on characters. Shields are also destructible.

+ Very non-stereotypical main characters. E'lara is shoot first ask questions later elf who is always more than happy to rush into battle. Caddoc is a calculating and strategic mercenary warrior.

+ Solid voice acting talent includes Lucy Lawless, Laura Bailey and Robin Atkin Downes.

+ Outstanding soundtrack by Kevin Reipl (Gears of War, Unreal Tournament, Resistance - Burning Skies).

it was a good multiplayer RPG co op when Gamespy was active. now that it's closed, to play co op with a LAN partner, you have to unplug the internet from your PC before loading the game and plug it back in after you're on the menu screen. (those on pre Windows 8 can just turn off the internet in Control Panel before loading the game, then turn it back on once you're on the menu screen). to play co op with a non-LAN partner, you have to install Tunngle on both computers.

3.0 out of 5 stars Discount Is It's Most Compelling Feature.
Good graphics, decent plot and game play isn't too terrible, but nothing to really write home about. Passable discount title but I wouldn't pay full price.

This is hands down the worst game I've played this year. Everything is poor quality right down to the dialog. Don't waste your money on this one.
