Let me state right away that I'm saving the introduction, because I figure that if you're reading this, then you already know a bit about Year of the Rabbit or Ken Andrews. If not, though, I recommend previewing Year of the Rabbit's eponymous LP and Andrews' solo album, Secrets Of The Lost Satellite, and if sold on those, purchase those first. Then, if you're craving more, come back for this.

However, if you want just a sampling of great alternative rock, pick this up (a helpful suggestion: you could buy this EP used here, or you could go to cdbaby.com or google "cd baby" and buy the mp3's exclusively at that website for a [as of this writing] cheaper price). The first two tracks come from the LP, but the final two songs are worth the price of admission alone. "Burn" should have been included on the LP, but instead finds itself being a major selling point on this EP. The final track, "I Wanna Be Adored", is a faithful cover of the Stone Roses song, albeit with heavier instrumentals, and is a must-have for Year of the Rabbit and Ken Andrews fans.

Year of the Rabbit may not be for everyone, though if you like any of Ken Andrews' projects, or just good alternative rock, check them out. Very rarely do you find b-sides and covers from EPs of bands that are more than worthy of being found on their LPs (even more so than some songs on the actual LPs, even), but the Hunted EP is an example of this, and because of that (on top of the great music offered), I rate this a full five stars.

This is the first EP from the one-time supergroup headed by ex-Failure vocalist and hard-working producer Ken Andrews. He is also joined by the incredible talents of Jeff Garber (Castor, National Skyline), Tim Dow (Shiner) and Solomon Snyder (Cupcakes). While many considered this short lived group an extension of Ken Andrew's former band, you can't deny the contributions from the other members. In 2003 this was a refreshing slice of rock bliss that ultimately landed the band their major label deal with Elektra Records before they were dropped due to the label folding in 2004.

The EP features two album tracks from the band's debut and two b-sides, one of which, "I Wanna Be Adored" being a cover song from the Stone Roses.

Excellent guitar work, sonic and pulsating vocals and a veritable wall of sound keeps this EP moving along and gives a great preview to the near masterpiece of their self-titled debut which is also their swan song.

Pick this up at any price and try listening with some headphones on because Year of The Rabbit truly deliver.
