5.0 out of 5 stars Hunter Quality = Reliability, December 1, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hunter Fans 20438 42" The Beacon Hill Traditional Indoor New Bronze Ceiling Fan w/ Light & Blades
With prior past experience with a Hunter fan in our dining room, and one in our backroom, there was no question which fan I would use in the three bedrooms. I purchased three identical fans, and placed on in each bedroom. They are noiseless, which is important when sleeping (I require silence) when on low, only slight wind noise on medium, and the expected noise one would expect from being on high. Even on high, still vastly quiet compared to a box fan moving an equal volume of air - in my opinion.

The included incandescent light bulbs are simply too dark at the maximum allowed wattage. However, now that they make compact fluorescent bulbs with the smaller base, I'm able to get plenty of light while still keeping the wattage below the safe wattage amount.

Summary: I would buy this fan again (well, I kind of did when I bought 3 of them). Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Fan for the Price, April 30, 2011

This review is from: Hunter Fans 20438 42" The Beacon Hill Traditional Indoor New Bronze Ceiling Fan w/ Light & Blades
I installed the Beacon Hill fan on our 10' high dining room ceiling with an 18" downrod, replacing an existing chandelier. Installation is relatively easy for anyone with some basic skills and the little tab that is used to temporarily hang the fan while connecting the wires is a big plus. Only minor problem was trying to jam all the wires & connectors into the light fitter housing - it's a tight squeeze. Since there was only a 2-wire feed to the old chandelier, I installed a Nutone Maestro MA-LFQHW remote RF wall control and everything works great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fans, December 5, 2011

I bought two of these, one for the living room and one for my bedroom. We have darker wood in the living room and lighter wood in the bedroom, so the ability to simply flip the blades over and have them match both rooms was great. Installation was really easy. I had some issues mounting the fan in my bedroom, but that was only because some jag-hole mounted the previous light improperly...anyway...the fans look great in both rooms, plenty of light for both applications, the fan runs very quietly even on highest speed (only air noise is heard on highest setting), and overall I am very pleased with the purchase.

I think I'm going to buy another one for my computer room

I happened upon some remotes also made by Hunter when shopping at the big box store and gave them a shot, they work great with these fans. The ones I got can be mounted right over the existing wall switch so you can use the remote or just leave the control on the wall, and they have a dimmer. Sorry I don't have the model number, but they shouldn't be too hard to find if you're interested. They were easy to install also, so give 'em a shot
