Don't buy, design is not functional,
By
This review is from: Hunter Fan 20490 52-Inch Norway Ceiling Fan, Antique Pewter (Tools & Home Improvement)
I so liked the design that I forgot about functionality. I wouldn't recommend this fan and since this is my first Hunter, I'm doubting about the entire brand and I don't think I would buy a Hunter again. How can you sacrifice what the fan is supposed to do because of some designer's idea? Just the simple task of turning on/off with the pull chains is a pain. The chain is supposed to be aligned for the task of pull down, but if you remove the cylinder screen you can see that the chain is bended through the hole!! What kind of idea is that? At first we thought that maybe there's a reason for it since that's supposed to be researched and approved before deciding on doing it. But no, that IS the design!! It seems that they thought they had a great idea.
Also we tried to change the bulbs to "save energy" types. We couldn't find any bulbs that would fit there since there is so little space inside the cylinder. In the end we finally found smaller light bulbs with much difficulty. Now, six months after it was installed I had to change the capacitor. Which I didn't expect from a much-expensive fan. I have had cheaper ceiling fans and I had never had to change the capacitor nor hear of it before I acquired this Hunter ceiling fan brand. Hope it will last.
