5.0 out of 5 stars Hunter Fan lives up to its reputation
Fan was easy and quick to install. Looks really good in our bedroom and keeps it cool in the summer. We were worried about how low a fan would hang, but this one works very well. It is very quiet too. The remote control is a definite plus, I would recommend that for any fan.

3.0 out of 5 stars O.K., but some glitches
This fan works O.K., but does not move much air. In my 12 foot x 12 foot room, it is not very breezy even on high speed. Also, there it a 3/16 inch gap between the ceiling and the housing. This gap is excessive and inherent in the mounting design.

I recommend buying an 52" EnergyStar compliant fan.

2.0 out of 5 stars Hunter Fan Purchase, July 29, 2010
This review is from: Hunter Fans 22376 48" Low Profile IV Plus Flush Mount New Bronze Ceiling Fan w/ Light & Blades
I can't say, I would or would not recommend this ceiling fan as one that would be right for your home. Once the fan had been installed I realized the entire assembly was out of balance, not just the fan blades, but the motor itself. Upon closer inspection, it became apparent that one of the bearings was not fully pressed into the correct position on the drive shaft. So, I did what the bold print on the assembly instructions said, "don't return this fan to the store, call this number for technical assistance." I did, and found out the manufacture does not "touch" problems with fans that are less than 30 days from the purchase date, "take it back to the store," they said. The number is for missing parts, evidently. Instead of tearing it out of the ceiling and sending it back to amazon (no fault to amazon here, I just didn't want to hassle with returns) I fixed the bearing location myself (lucky for me, I have lots of tools), hung the fan and everything is good. There is nothing spectacular about the fan. It does what it was meant to do, it's quite and moves air to keep the room comfortable. So if you consider yourself a handyman buy the fan, but if you aren't then the quality of the fan you get may not be to your liking.

I bought 2 for my connected living and dining rooms and they look and work great! My husband installed them without a hitch.

Update:
Just wanted to add that after having these for about 2 years, they still work great and I still really like them... BUT the pull chains on both of our fans for adjusting the fan speed have broken, which is really annoying. One of them can now only be reached from inside the light fixture - so I have to stand on a chair and stick my hand in there to adjust the fan speed. Luckily the unit is powered by a light switch on the wall which I can shut off so I don't have to worry about being decapitated while doing this when I want to adjust the speed from fast to slow. The chain on the other fan broke further down so I can still reach it and adjust it the normal way. I'm assuming a place like Home Depot sells pull chains a la cart, so I'm planning to take the fixtures off and see if I can switch the pull chains out with better ones that won't snap!

But functionally, the fans are still working and looking great.

Another Update:
So I've had these for about 3 years now and one of the light fixtures just came crashing down and smashed onto the floor. Luckily I had literally about 5 minutes before this picked my 6 month old up from under the light! So I'm freaked out. Basically the problem is that the way the fixture screws into the fan assembly doesn't lock. So over time, it loosens and slowly unscrews - I assume from the fan being on and the pull chains being pulled repeatedly. So just check it every so often and make sure it's nice and snug. After this happened I checked my second fan and it was pretty loose. I just spun the fixture until it was tight and will be doing so at least once a month from now on! I had previously given this light 5 stars - I'm changing it to 3.

Don't do what we did. Instead, adhere to the negative reviews here. We purchased this despite them . . . and now have to return this. There is a major, unacceptable gap at the ceiling. Additionally, the fan is "lopsided" and tilts to one side, and there is nothing you can do about it (i.e., can't manipulate or bend it to fix the tilt). Just do yourself a favor, and look elsewhere. (But for the gap, and the tilt, probably would have been a good looking and operating fan, but . . .)

I bought 3 of these ceiling fans last year for my new house. On the good side, the light fixture takes higher watt bulbs than is usual for a fan light thus producing more light. On the down side, it is difficult to change the speed of the fan. The chain/pull just doesn't work well. A lot of careful yanking to not break it. It is the same on all three fans. I love Hunter but I cannot recommend this model.

The fan went in just fine. I bought an "old-work" hanger made for fans and installed that first. Once the fan was in, we never remounted the air conditioner that used to keep our bedroom cool and we haven't missed it.

After 5 summers of using a tower fan to help cool our bedroom, we decided to finally install a ceiling fan. Our electrician strongly recommended the Hunter fans, and this one fit the bill. We now use it on low to keep the air circulating at night. After years of the whirr and clatter of the tower fan, we had to get used to the Hunter's quiet operations. We're looking forward to using it this summer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value on this fan., February 27, 2011
This review is from: Hunter Fans 22376 48" Low Profile IV Plus Flush Mount New Bronze Ceiling Fan w/ Light & Blades
Bought this fan and replaced an ancient non-lighted steel blade fan. This fan installed easily, runs true and quietly and although balancing weights were included we didn't need them. This is not a high end fan, however, for $130 you get a stylish fan with a better than average appearance and it casts a pleasing light. What else can you ask for? Although I'd like a $500 fan for my master bedroom, for me that is unrealistic so today I'm ordering another of this model since it has worked out so well in the den.

The fan is sturdy and quiet. I don't like pull strings so I install the remote control with the fan. I have it in a small room apx. 160SF. The fan works great. I would recommend it.
